There are some appalling results for the NRL there! The NRL games you listed were local derbies involving two Sydney teams. So effectively 1 AFL team plus a few traveling AFL fans draws as much as 2 NRL teams in Sydney.

NRL crowds in Sydney continue to rise ...
AFL crowds in Sydney .... continue to Fall.... despite the Swans being in the top 8 all year

15 years ago those NRL crowds would of been half that big
in 15 more maybe they'll be twice as big again

a growing game is NRL in Sydney as culture changes

the Sydney average from 15 years ago ...9,689

2005 Sydney finalists ...6
2011 Sydney finalists ...4

number of rain affected games in Sydney
2005 i dunno .. 10/108 games
2011... about 40/108

whos crowds are falling
Swans 2007 average 35,632

their 2011 average 26,615

I said our crowds have been rising
they have

look at the average from 1995
2011 was a rain affected year with less input from Sydneys bigger clubs

no Parramatta
no Bulldogs

you don't isolate one year & claim a fall
its a trend up or down
NRL in Sydney ... up
Swans in Sydney ... down

the NRL average in sydney in 2006 was 14,455

in 2008 13,780

in 2010 it was .. 15,957 .. the highest ever

trending up ?

yes indeedy do
2011 the record from the year before would have gone.. but for poor weather .. & Sydney's big sides failing

nothing surer

So you pick the time frame to suite yourself?

On the one hand you're using rain as an excuse for lower crowds in Sydney last year. Then youre claiming the swans have dropped in attendance. Didn't the swans also play their home games in Sydney last year?

If youre going to use that excuse for the NRL crowds dropping don't crap on about the swans crowds dropping without allowing for a similar reason.

And don't go on about trends either. You always reference the swans crowds to their peak years when they made the GF! Every team varies in crowd size according to ladder position. Even essendon, one of the powerhouses of the afl had an average crowd of 57k in 1999, then down to 44k in 2010. In 1999 they were 3rd. In 2010 they were bottom 4. They were back up to 49k last year and finished 8th.

What about parramatta? They averaged 23k in 1999. They dipped to an appalling 11k in 2003!! They are still only back to 15k. looks like RL is dying in Paramatta!!

So if you Combine the swans fall from 1st in 2005 with a rain effected season last year of course they are lower in crowds than 2005.

ah
if the Swans crowds falling were isolated .. they could claim the same dispensation as NRL in Sydney last year
but
their crowds have been trending downward , despite consistently good performances

they've dropped by ova 25%
to 26,615 in 2011

Looks like RL is dead on the GC!

The titans have steadily dropped in crowds In the last 5 years! Dead and buried.

RL is also dying in Northern QLD. The coboys have steadily dropped in attendance from nearly 21k in 2005 to only 14k last year.

See. rL is dying in its own heartland!

thats when Sydneysiders decided .. nup
not interested
because they made the finals in 2010 & 2011.. but the crowds did NOT go up ... they continued their slide
there was no issue with rain in 2010 & even a much improved season .. had no impact on the Swans crowds

get used to it
nothing ... not even a finals birth will stop the Swans crowds dropping even further in 2012
they have had their day
stick a fork in em ... they're done
