Q: Are Gold Coast Titans' problems a concern when contemplating potential Queensland expansion?
A: Yes, that is something to be a bit cautious about. It's an exercise in realising that putting a football team into a competition needs to have long-term sustainability.

Gold Coast Titans Ongoing Problems a Major Concern for NRL.
Even David Gallop is now finally admitting there are major problems with the Gold Coast Titans. And to think they are considering further expansion in an already saturated Queensland marketplace.

he said the Titans need to be considerd when deciding if another team will enter SE QLD
& said the Titans need to be across the rollercoaster ride that is sucess & prepare for the low points .. which they are experiencing now
& as low as they are.. they are keeping pace with this brand new AFL side .. new & shiny .. the " in " thing ATM.. like they were a few years ago themselves
of course the difference being they were a pretty handy side
the Suns are a bunch of 2nd rate plodders & won't be anything different for a while ... watch the honeymoon end next year
GC sports fans will tire of this sub standard side .. playing a sub standard game .... very quickly
the AFL will be bailing this lot out for a very very long time

Re: GWS / SUNS >> How much more dollars
Titans:
(With the process to find Brennan's replacement underway, Watt - CEO Titans- pulled no punches about the importance of getting the right man in to deliver elusive sporting success to Australia's sixth-largest city.
"We're in no doubt that this is it," Watt said.
"This is the last stand, we have to get it right.
There are plenty of other people banging on the door who would probably like to launch teams elsewhere.")
(The Gold Coast Titans are reportedly being targeted by a consortium to make a shock move to Brisbane to be the cities second rugby league team.
The struggling glitter strip club, who sacked coach Garth Brennan on Sunday would potentially play out of Suncorp Stadium as a rebranded Brisbane team.
"Some rugby league heavy hitters are involved in a top secret plan to transform the Gold Coast Titans into Brisbane's second rugby league team," Channel 9 reported.
"Nine news understands up to eight Titans games a season would be played in Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium under a new name.
"Super League heavyweights and former Melbourne Storm bosses John Ribot and Chris Johns are said to be involved.")
Suns:
AFL CEO McLachlan was adamant that the Suns would achieve long-term success, and that they had been successful in building football in Queensland.
This is the club that is there for the long haul, they are doing their job in terms of growing the game up there. They are going through a time period, there's no doubt about that," he said on SEN on Tuesday.
"I have also said I am frustrated by this. I would like a rebuild to be quicker, but it does take time," he said.
"Accelerating development is not easy - bottom to top can take 3-5 years. Last year we gave them three mature players and they've played more games than (picks) 2, 3 6 in the draft. We gave them some help. Top-end talent wont help next year - it might a bit. It's challenging to get players in the current environment.
"Absolutely (the AFL can wait). They have been successful in what they have achieved in interest at grassroots, participation has grown. They're just not playing well and they're on the bottom of the ladder.
"It's a tough environment … a couple of mistakes and you get punished for a long time.
"History says if you have the right people you can get yourself out of it.
"It will turn“
I reckon it would be an easy choice to back which team is going to last the longest on the Gold Coast.

Re: GWS / SUNS >> How much more dollars
Another Brisbane Bid open to relocating a side...
Must be like 5 bids now handed to Mr Greenburg for Brisbane teams...
What do they think moving the Titans to Brisbane will suddenly make them a winning side..
Playing 8 Games in Brisbane and 4 Games on the Gold Coast...

Don’t think it is a great idea, but the club is privately owned, and if the owners are looking for either a way out or to potentially curb the money loss, we’ll who knows.leeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 10:22 amAnother Brisbane Bid open to relocating a side...

Relocation would not be a short term solution, it would take years to get a decent supporter base.

Re: GWS / SUNS >> How much more dollars
It's madness
Theyd instantly lose 10 k GC fans if they moved to BRIS .
I'd say it's all bluff .
Plus the Govt wouldn't be happy with a 10 yr old stadium being unused
