I’m betting they’ll win the finals as well as per usual.
And i'm betting that the more popular Rugby League gets more ratings, just as it does every year :thumbleft:

Yes this is possible. With 4 marquee games they certainly would be in a prime position to do so. I would thi I the afl would love to have such a thing as the successful SoO. That’s certainly a win with RL no doubt. Although I think it is very close this year?

Could be close this year Freddy boy!!! I'll be using my method comparing the same number of elite level games to get a result.

And if RL loses I will state so unequivocally and without reservation. Unlike the fumbling folk here who either deny, deny, deny or run for their lives into the jungle as soon as the fumbling game starts to tank.

Know what I mean Freddo lolololololol??????

Isn't every week marquee games in AFL
When you only have one top level then that's it .

One trick pony where everything is in one basket .
Other non insular sports have multi levels at the top .

No not at all AFLcrap. A marquee game would be the gf I think. Maybe finals. Even then probably second week of finals if lucky.

I think one the thing that makes a game a marquee game is that they are confined to 1 game or a limited series of games like the SOO. Having a game each week for 24 weeks hardly fits into the marquee or unique event category I feel.

Anglofl Sydney FTA ratings this round; 20,000, 19,000, 31,000.
TOTAL Ratings outside NSW/QLD for the NRL
21,000 13,000 20,000.
Both are poor. I assume that is your point pal??

Re this years TV ratings: I've just checked the international fixtures for RL in Oct/Nov this year. The Kangaroos play against NZ & Tonga in the new Oceania Cup. There are other games involving GB V NZ, Tonga, Samoa and PNG.

There is also the world nines held in October in Parramatta over two days. All games are broadcast live into Australia. That'll be a nice little ratings earner for RL at the end of the domestic and SOO season's.

I s'pose that's the advantage of having a multi tiered sport.

Actually my point is that its a bit rich having a go at Sydney tv audiences when the entirety of the NRL tv audience outside of NSW/QLD is fuck all.

Well outside Melb we don't have teams in the other mainland state capitals .
So interest is understandably low .
What is the excuse for the low AFL interest in the northern states when teams have been here for over 30 years .
Gifted premierships through unfair cola crap .....yet the ratings are low
All the talk of how well AFL is going ..how it's growing yet where are the tv viewers.
Oh &
We aren't the ones who beat our chest ranting about a Truely. NATIONAL game . .
That would be the fumblers .

Well that actually is the point pal. Your fumbling mates here are suggesting AFL is the No. 2 sport in NSW. The good RL folk here are pointing out the appalling tv ratings for your mess in Sydney.

Which proves my point that whilst the the AFL might trump soccer & Rugby in domestic comps they are dumped to the bottom of the barrell once the Wallabies and Socceroos are factored in.

Nobody has made the claim that NRL draws large audiences in all capital cities. In fact, there is only one domestic football competition which does; State of Origin.

"unfair cola cap" is a matter of perspective.

And unlike Rugby league, the AFL is about far more than TV ratings.

and ffs your league is called the NATIONAL rugby league.

Wookie, 12 months ago the AFL were in complete meltdown because of there poor ratings. The AFL are no different to anyone else , even though you might like to make out they are.

other than participation there isnt a single data point that puts soccer or union ahead of the AFL in Sydney. Not even television. At the professional level, the AFL is probably already number 2 - on revenue, crowds, members, sponsors, and tv ratings.
