Since I provided evidence busting some of the NRL fan theories around FTA ratings it seems to have gone very quiet in here.

As a recap:

1. the ratings show the NRL would only get an increase of around 1% in FTA ratings if they showed QLD teams into QLD on FTA like the AFL show the Perth and Adelaide clubs into their states.

2. Pussy's ridiculous claim that the AFL get more FTA ratings because NRL fans switch over to the AFL for the last 1/3rd of the game has also been busted. The NRL actually have more non-competing FTA time because they have 2 extra rounds and more Thursday games like tonight.

3. the AFL has no FTA advantage in Melbourne compared to the NRL in Sydney, which is highly relevant given both are their respective comps biggest markets. The AFL do have up to a 13% FTA advantage in Perth but with 80% less games in prime time the advantage is basically zero.

So basically the long touted FTA advantage the AFL supposedly has is utter BS.

Now, the PTV advantage the NRL have, by showing all games on fox in isolation, is real, the ratings prove it every single week. Can any NRL fan bust this 'myth'?

Yep, same for the Broncos. Both clubs are huge and rate really well when shown into their respective states.

Same cannot be said for the cowboys or Titans who both have small followings which result in a minimal increase in ratings. Therefore targeting QLD with Titan and cowboy games would make much of a difference in NRL ratings at all.

That was my point

It is :hmm:
??? Cowboys ratings are Regional , Gcst are divided.

Have you got any evidence that Rugby League fans don't watch AFL ? Because I know of quiet a few that do, and Vice -versa.

I posted a number of ratings for games involving Titans and Cowboys. The QLD metro ratings were no better than games involving non-Qld clubs, and the regionals were also no better.

As for RL fans watching AFL, the same goes the other way. The NRL have two rounds played against no AFL, and about 10 Thursday games. The net result is both codes get around the same amount of FTA game time against no opposing comp.

As was said the Cowboyss are regional side and are probably the highest rating regional teams.. Cowboys last year made more TV appearances than most..

So games shown in isolation had suddenly become a factor now you think it might favour the AFL [-(

Round about the same, unless you count the final 50min in the other 50 games.

Yet the cowboys games dont result in higher regional ratings....

What other 50 games, and what 50 minutes? Tonight it would have been 30 minutes that the AFL went longer than the NRL, and that was after 10pm. Say 10k tuned in from NSW or QLD after 10pm, which is very generous given the audience in Sydney is often 20-30k. Divide that by 6 because the telecast is averaged over 3 hours. That's a whopping 2k per game. Fox would be lucky to by 500 people per game. Plus that ignores all the FTA games the NRL get without competition.

Wow, no wonder you're upset

739k (Metro 547k Regional 193k)

#TVratings Friday #NRL #Nine #WWOS
#NRLSharksStorm
591k (Metro 375k Regional 216k)

Another whopping incoming :\:

That'll be 12-0 for the AFL this year alone

Those NRL metro ratings are horrendous. 375k from about 14 mil people

closest round this season, AFL finish up about 300k for the round - 3.72m to 3.69m, AFL extends overall lead to 2 million.

Average match broadcasts 526k for the AFL to 487k for the NRL.

another cease and desist from oztam, ratings stuff will have to wait for my tv blackbox articles in future.
