Neither does total ratings for end of year as it comes down to scheduling of games!

On almost any occasion put an afl and nrlol game on next to each other or similar time frames the afl murders the nrlol nearly every time!

Eg finals games, Thursday and Friday night games :(/

Due to being flogged nearly every time the but buts come out and tears of you cannot compare those games as it’s unfair!

Suck it it all comes down to scheduling
Oh dear .
The scheduling excuses
While ignoring FTA games targeted into home markets to maximise ratings .
More FTA games than RL
RL having one teams home ratings not counted each week .
So it's 18 teams v 15 .
Yet we still win .
Lol
Derp derp derp .
Sydney get the same number of NRL games on FTA as Melbourne get AFL games on FTA. Neither city see all their local teams either..

Perth and Adelaide only get 10% more games on FTA than NRL in NRL states, but lose out because games are on 7mate and Perth only see a handful in primetime.

The AFLs FTA advantage is a myth.

NRL's foxtel advantage is huge and can be seen every week when looking at the averages. The AFL is comparable to the NRL for single games shown simulcast on ch7. However, this is only 2-4 games per round. The rest are overlapping which causes the average to plummet.

FTA is similar, Fox is non comparable
The AFL FTA broadcast guide only shows the first 17 rounds.

Melbourne: 60matches
Adelaide: 65m
Perth: 70m

Over That time(RL)

Sydney: 51
Brisbane: 51

Comparable :hmm: I think not

Basically you have no answer and admitting it’s the scheduling!

The big prize the afl got more $ for less

that’s little man syndrome is running strong though:\:
What are you fucking ranting about .
I have admitted nothing you braindead flog .

Almost 14mil lead in the projection.
For the well being of our northern counterparts I hope SOO do something special this year.
It's fast becoming a very large gap to bridge.
10mil might not cut it this year.

This shows the NRL get 79 FTA games excluding SOO this year.

The AFL in Melbourne gets 60 FTA games in the first 17 rounds as you said. That's 3.53 FTA games per round. Extrapolate that to 23 rounds is another 21 games. Total FTA games is therefore 81.

If you add the SOO games Sydney and Brisbane actually get 82 FTA games of NRL,1 more FTA game than Melbourne get AFL. So are they comparable or not?

As I said, Adelaide and Perth get around 10 extra games, or around 10%. But we both know their FTA scheduling has other negatives

Does it ever come in to your thought process that at least 1/3 of your games are shown in complete isolation.
as opposed to 100% of your games? :hmm:
you have many more matches on FTA
For our 2 smaller markets, about 10% more. Does it occur to you that Perth get only 8 FTA games starting after 6pm in the first 17 rounds. They'll be luck to get 10 for the season. 10 prime time games! NRL markets get 32 prime time games in the first 17 weeks, or 53 for the season.

So Perth get targeted games and around 10 extra FTA games per year but only 10 prime-time games v 53 prime time games for NRL markets. Then you add on the handful of games on delay Perth get, plus games on 7 mate and there is no advantage at all. In fact considering the above they are probably disadvantaged.
You split your Sat/Sunday matches to increase you ratings.
See above. Furthermore, Brisbane broncos are shown in Brisbane on FTA for around 2/3rds of your rounds anyway, so the disadvantage is nowhere near what you claim.
Yet you still get beat by millions.
We've had less games than you this year and are well ahead. And that's despite your clear scheduling advantage

Further on the prime-time discussion, Sydney rate around 900k-1m for their Thursday and Friday games, but only around 750k for their non-prime time games. So that's a reduction in ratings or 20-25% for non-prime time games.

Perth get around 40 less prime time FTA games than Sydney/Bris get NRL in prime time. That's 20-25% LESS ratings for 40 of their 90 FTA games per year.

Say they rate 100k per FTA game (on average), over 40 games that's 4mil ratings. Take 20% from 4mil and you get 3.2mil. So they are missing out on 800k in ratings a year by having 40 less prime time games. Furthermore, they only get around 10 prime time games of the 200 total games per year, which means they also miss out on Foxtel ratings.

So how much do they get in extra ratings for their extra 10 FTA games per year? 10 time 100k is 1 mil.

So how much extra do they get by seeing their home team every round as opposed to the Brisbane which see the Broncos in 16 of their 24 games? That's an extra 7 games (we only have 23 rounds) at say 50k extra ratings. 7 times 50k is 350k.

How much are they disadvantaged by having 2/3rds of their games on 7mate?

So on balance:
- Perth's ratings are increased by 1mil per year because they get 10 extra FTA games (10 times 100k per game)
- Perth's ratings are increased by 350k per year because they get 7 extra home team games (above Broncos in Brisbane)
- Perth's ratings are decreased by 800k per year by getting 40 less prime time games on FTA
- Perth's ratings are decreased by ?? per year for having 2/3rds of games on 7mate
- Perth also get a few FTA games on delay which would decrease ratings for the season by around 100k

So Perth's advantage for their targeted and 10 extra FTA games is in the vicinity of 450k for the entire year without taking into account the reduction in ratings for games on 7mate.

How much further disadvantage do they have when 2/3rds of their games overlapped on TV?

i would have to say>> i am surprised the NRL are not getting more games
on the Thursday / Friday Night time slot above the 1 million mark..

950k seems to be the peak for this night for the game for H&A season games

regarding Internationals When Australia Plays they average around the 1.5mill mark during the season.
and for finals in Australia for events are close to the 1.8 - 2 million mark.

Do people think a suns v Fremantle game shown live in qld would rate better or worse than say Collingwood v Richmond. That’s the price Queenslanders pay ... if both are on we get the dubs game.
Why i get your point... Collingwood Game would out rate a Suns game...

The supporters of the game can always watch this game on FOX FOOTY...

While have a think about NRL fans That have 5 exclusive games on FOX

and that there is only 3 Titans games on FTA this year...

but it is a decrease in ratings overall if more would watch the collingwood game on FTA.

Targteting home markets doesn't always result in higher ratings. EG: Fremantle v Suns shown in Perth on FTA while Crows v Collingwood is also playing and more interesting to non-freo fans.

Have you got any examples of Brisbane's FTA ratings when the Titans are playing?

Is this what happens every year?
I look forward to watching this play out, seeing how the narrative changes around SOO.
All these "but, but buts" and this brainwashed fishbowl commentary.... seems to only be coming from the leaguies.
Unfortunately Crapper still seems the brightest of you lot so early signs aren't good.

AFL basically rate more for every round but the NRL come back to be ahead because 1. they have more rounds, and 2. they include SOO which rates about 10mil for 3 games.

When we say SOO isnt NRL they say "but it's RL, and it shows RL is number one". We then say, well if you're going to include all ratings for RL then you should also inlude all Aussie rules ratings such as state league, preseason, woman's etc.

Happens every year.

NRL v AFL competitions is the obvious comparison but they dont like that

That is correct, targeting home markets do not always get higher ratings..

this is the case for 3 AFL teams

LIONS
SUNS
GWS

SWANS usually draw 10-20k higher on AVG than other games..

(Titans games when shown on FTA) rate actually pretty good in QLD>
but not so much in NSW

they generally would rate over 120k-150k when played on FTA in Metro .. do not have regionals ..

this is where the AFL style of Tv Deal would work great>>

LIVE IN QLD for Titans games, but on FOX Australia wide.
