So they are simulcast on FTA targeted into home areas of these teams ..yet somehow that is a disadvantage .
Lol
Only in bizarro world

& we have our STV games only available for about 25-30% of the population .
Yet we still smash you .

With less teams
With one teams home ratings not counted .

You can't argue against these facts yet you do .
Isn't Sydney Metro alone 25% of the population?
About 1/5
But what has that got to do with what I posted .

Yep. No doubt concurrent games has some negative impact on ratings.
Glory be! How long has it taken you to reach that conclusion. However, 'some' is grossly understating the effect of showing 2 games against each other
And equally having a FTA component for EVERY game has a positive impact on ratings. So you are correct: the conditions are not similar.

AFL has some concurrent games and NRL has 5 or 6 games each round that do not have any FTA component. I believe FTA has a bigger positive effect than concurrent games have a negative effect.
The end result though, is Melbourne still only get 3 games a round on FTA, Perth and Adelaide around 3.5, and QLD/NSW get 4. The advantage isnt having a component of every game on FTA, it's showing homeland clubs into most states. However, I think the advantage is over-stated because:
1. Melbourne, our biggest market, do not get target games for each team. At least no more targeted than Sydney. Therefore, our only heartland markets which get targeted on FTA are Perth and Adelaide, with a population similar to Brisbane. Yet Brisbane are targeted in the NRL when the Broncos get a FTA game on most weeks.

2. We have 5 cities to target, the NRL have only 3. Therefore, if we didnt target markets with multiple games most wouldnt be relevant. This is not as big an issue for the NRL

3. If targeting markets with multiple games was so beneficial why does our Friday night game outrate multiple targeted games shown on Saturday? Surely if it was a big advantage to show multiple games the combined ratings would beat Friday's single game
But for the sake of balance lets just say they cancel each other out and we are left with what we have - raw numbers. And we know who wins that - year on year!!!!!
they dont, that's the point
That's your opinion .
What you lose in concurrently you pick up in targeted FTA .

Jesus h fuck .

targeted games are only for non-Melbourne markets. Brisbane are targeted on FTA in the NRL for most rounds anyway. Therefore the advantage is minor and in no way equals the disadvantage of concurrent games, where the ratings almost halve.

Add to that the clear advantage the NRL has by spreading only 16 hours of coverage over 4 days compared to our 27 over 3. Thats 4 hours of NRL per day, which is easily watched, compared to 9 hours per day for the AFL.

The factors are heavily stacked in the NRLs favour when

So here we have it folks. An independent organisation giving the run down on AFL V NRL tv ratings and crowds thus far this season. Congratulations AFL you're crowds are again worlds best per head of population. And congratulations NRL you're are way in front on the tv ratings table with less games played.

And this graph does not include 10M more ratings for SOO and 2M+ more for internationals. When these are added - to make the number of games played level - RL is around 15M in front. Yep......you heard that right.....15M!!!!!!!!

When you add tv ratings and crowd numbers together the good ol' girl RL is far and away the most popular sport in Australia. Congratulations indeed!!!!!

Oh dear. I hate to break it to ya pal but your lack of research has bought you undone again. The article suggests the NRL is only in front because it started 2 weeks earlier than the AFL. Obviously the author has the same problem as you.

Due to the NRL's split rounds and bye round for rep games plus the 1 extra game a week the AFL has actually played 11 MORE games than the NRL thus far and are still way behind.

And of course the poor big tough fumblers have a bye round before the semis which will mean RL goes another 4M in front.

It's NRL first and daylight second my friend.

Please remember - research is your friend.

I suppose you could tell us how the NRL rates more when it loses almost every one v one comparison...............
Take the Average Round this year.

Thursday:

The NRL Averages 900k on Thursday.
The AFL don’t play.

NRL = 900k
AFL = 0k
So difference
NRL – 900k

Friday Night:

NRL Averages 900k for there match.
AFL Averages 1000K for there’s
But the NRL also has a PTv game that averages about 220k

NRL 900k + 220k = 1120k
AFL 100k
So Difference
NRL – 120k

Saturday:

The NRL STV average for a Saturday = 240k
So the NRL’s 3 STV games = 720k

The AFL’s average for a STV game(shown without overlap) is 200k.
So the AFL’s 5 STV games = 1000k.

The AFL also has FTA game averages 420k for Metro. Throw in 150k for regionals.

NRL = 720k
AFL = 1000k +420K + 150K = 1570k

Difference:
AFL – 850K

Sunday:

NRL STV average 230k , FTA average 550k
AFL STV average (no numbers for no overlap so assume there 200k . The same as Saturday). FTA average 420k metro and 150k Regional

NRL
STV 230k + 230K = 460k.
NRL FTA = 550k
= 1010k

AFL:

STV 200k +200k + 200K = 600k
FTA 420k metro + 150 regional = 570k
= 1170k

difference = AFL 160k
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Round Total
NRL 900k + 1120k + 720k + 1010 = 3750
AFL 0 + 1000 + 1570 + 1170 = 3740

NRL 10k :cheers:

Friday #NRL #Nine #9Gem
#NRLSouthsRoosters 662k (Metro 400k Regional 262k)
Friday STV #NRL #FoxLeague #NRLSouthsRoosters 280k

So again the NRL's Friday game failed to get over 1m despite a game between 1st and 3rd to decide top of the ladder. In fact it was less than 80k ahead of the AFL's 12th v 15th :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

#AFL 388k mtro FTA + (est) 130k regional FTA + 318k STV = 863k

Truly laughable stuff lolololol!!!!!!

And I note the fumblers only had one game under the disastrous 100k level on Fox yesterday. Last week they had 3 lololololol!!!!!! Well fumblers.......take consolation from small mercies.

as I said, your top of the ladder decider only just beat our one-sided bottom ladder game, and it also didnt even get to 1mil. disastrous ratings for the NRL is your biggest games struggle so badly

As for yesterday, yes, one overlapping game didnt beat 100k. However, the other game, which started at 1.40pm, annihilated the NRLs afternoon game on Fox despite being shown against another AFL game :lol:
