I wouldn’t say it means nothing. You obviously have people interested enough to pay for Fox and understandably so given this is the main way to see the game. Same with FTA... ratings are likely to be lower for NRL as there is more likely to be more supporters who have fox thus watching it on there. So the whole rating ms thing is a bit of a non issue for me as you simply cannot compare the two based on ratings. If there was just fta then a case could be made. You could add them as you could assume those watching on Fox would otherwise watch on FTA if there was no fox option but in and of themselves they mean little re: which is more popular to the broader population. I would not say you could add streaming in just yet. I think we need more definitive figures from streaming before we add that in which I am sure will come.

What makes you think afl is second to Rl. Ratings is only one measure. And as I realise, Rl rates generally better on fox but there are more followers of Rl on fox so that makes sense as limited games on fta. But also explains the afl doing better on fta. Ratings are so fraught with so many factors influencing them they really only tell at best a cloudy story. Rl rating well on fox is like an afl game rating well on an afl streaming channel... of they do.

Afl is clearly the biggest sporting body in Australia ... no one denies this... there is a reason for this.
and with more NRL fans subscribing to fox plus all NRL games in isolation the cumulative total of ratings means absolutely nothing
hahahahaha
absolutely nothing
almost every game shown somewhere on FTA for the fumblers
big advantage

if it was close you may have a point but...
Rugby League looks like its going to smash the fumblers by about 20 million in 2021

I agree with this... fta is a big advantage for afl. Also explains lower fox numbers for afl.

of course you'd say streaming doesn't count fweddy , your bumbling clowns are being murdered there

no
they're in
the NRL with a 386K average a game to the derpsters 219K a game on subscription TV
will give us a 33 million advantage alone there

anyone got a towel ?
give it to the fumblers

its over

I think I’m happy to consider streaming when we get done regular actual numbers. What’s it matter if Rl gets more viewers on streaming anyway ? Or on fox or on fta anyway?

3 LIVE: AFL ADELAIDE V COLLINGWOOD FOX FOOTY 268,000
4 LIVE: AFL ESSENDON V RICHMOND FOX FOOTY 200,000
5 LIVE: AFL ST KILDA V SYDNEY FOX FOOTY 191,000

3 isolated AFL games yesterday averaged 220k. Last Saturday the NRL rated an average of 243k on fox with shorter telecasts and exclusive games on fox. That's an advantage of only 23k per game.

Last Saturday our 5 games on fox with overlap averaged 145k.

Hmmm, I wonder if overlapping games makes a difference  :hmm:

of course there are some on here claiming the AFL have an advantage on Saturday night by showing 2 games at once because the games are targeted to multiple markets. Enter exhibit A, last night's single game targeting Melbourne only (Rich v Ess) but shown nationally.

•TOTAL average: 1.09m
-Free to air, national: 890k
>5 city: 675k
~Syd: 23k (7mate)
~Melb: 466k
~Bris: 25k (7mate)
~Adel: 58k
~Per: 102k (7mate)
>Regional: 215k
-Foxtel: 200k

So how is that theory working out for you boys? Fox and FTA averages for a single games miles up on previous Saturdays with concurrent games.

the ratings were similar to most Thursday and Friday games which are played in isolation. Hardly an anomaly
