No
because the regionals data is not accurate.
Dave, do you think Ch9 would allow undercounting of their ratings from their regional markets, losing them millions of dollars in advertising revenue each year?

You cant understand that FTA TV ratings have declined substantially?

387K in 2014 to 211K in 2020
probably 500K in 2008

theyve vanished have they ?
yeah
nothing to see here
metro ratings are way lower too, so unless you think all ratings figures are incorrect you have no point at all

eg: August 2011 https://tvtonight.com.au/2011/08/week-35-4.html
9 Nine’s Live Friday Night Football Nine 797,000 528,000 *** 269,000 *** ***

When was the last time Sydney rated anywhere near 528k for ANY program let alone an NRL home and away game?

ALL ratings have dropped in metro and regional markets, not just regionals.

Its fucking 9 years ago. Not exactly "kicking your arse for years"...if it hasnt been done for years. The last time an NRL finals series outrated an AFL one was in 2014.

My point was the data your showing is from 9 years ago and isnt exactly "kicking your arse for years". I mean christ i remember when the league fraternity here got worked up because someone was pointing out crowd fudging reports from 2012 and 2013, but now apparently anything goes.

An absolute shellacking of the highest order.

So not only does Rugby league run a distant second, virtually every week to the AFL in regular season, their finals get slaughtered with 40% more people watching the AFL.

TV BLACKBOX CAN REVEAL THE RATINGS NUMBERS FOR WEEK TWO OF THE FOOTY FINALS WITH STREAMING PLATFORM KAYO AGAIN MAKING AN IMPACT.
The increased growth of Kayo has seen streaming audiences for week two of the AFL Finals rise 110% compared with last year, while week two of the NRL Finals were up a whopping 170%.

NRL
Week two of footy finals coverage attracted an average national audience of 447K per match across the combined platforms of Foxtel Linear (cable & satellite) and Foxtel Streaming Platforms (Foxtel Go, Foxtel Now and Kayo).

The result made it the highest rating match of the Week 2 Finals round and was up 6% on the corresponding Saturday night fixture last season (Brisbane v GWS).

Sevens Free-To-Air coverage of the match averaged 1.126mil (865k metro). This puts the final combined FTA+FoxFooty audience for the game at 1.521 million.

I have no doubt they would have been at 500 6 years earlier then that in 2008

as for the afl winning easily on sat night
cough * lockdown* cough

oh and
RL is as popular in regional NSW/ACT & QLD as kick n giggle is in regional Vic , SA TAS & WA .. yet we won the regional ratings for both finals by only about 50K each final , yet have 3 million more potential viewers. 8-[
Our regional finals viewers only increased by about 20 to 25% , the AFL's nearly double :hmm:

dddddooooddggggeeeyyyyyyy :/;

plus
we're getting zip out of QLD

Perhaps NRL is popular in QLD, pity so few are watching. But that doesn’t count, does it because Qld fans don’t jump off the NRL bandwagon....unless they do...but that doesn’t count...

There are lies, damn lies and ratings.
