Back in those days Ratings for the NRL's 16th team were still available. That would make some difference . I think the main difference would be streaming. Many of our Metro ratings aren't getting a lot more than 300k these days . So its stands to reason that many of our regional viewers are still watching but through streaming devices also and even on PTV.
NZ ratings have never been counted by Oztam, and arent included in the data here.

everyone talks streaming up, but the numbers arent there from what weve seen either.
NZ rating have been used on this site right up until the time they became unavailable!

The numbers have certainly dropped and Telstra, 9 and Kayo are constantly bragging about record increases.

Game was a blowout featuring one of the least supported teams in the league. Get a grip.

Population has nothing to do with tv ratings - its why Melbourne rates higher than Sydney in general for almost everything that isnt sport related - and much better for AFL ratings than Sydney get for the NRL.

And take your conspiracy bullshit somewhere else. so many lols.
similarly RL is more popular in country NSW & QLD then it is in Sydney & Brisbane & usually the only place you can watch NRL in these places is on TV.
387K in 2014 to 211K in 2020
probably 500K in 2008

Dave, do you think Ch9 would allow undercounting of their ratings from their regional markets, losing them millions of dollars in advertising revenue each year?

You cant understand that FTA TV ratings have declined substantially?

eg: August 2011 https://tvtonight.com.au/2011/08/week-35-4.html
9 Nine’s Live Friday Night Football Nine 797,000 528,000 *** 269,000 *** ***

When was the last time Sydney rated anywhere near 528k for ANY program let alone an NRL home and away game?

ALL ratings have dropped in metro and regional markets, not just regionals.

Its fucking 9 years ago. Not exactly "kicking your arse for years"...if it hasnt been done for years. The last time an NRL finals series outrated an AFL one was in 2014.
My point was all levels. which is were these results come from.

An absolute shellacking of the highest order.

So not only does Rugby league run a distant second, virtually every week to the AFL in regular season, their finals get slaughtered with 40% more people watching the AFL.

Perhaps NRL is popular in QLD, pity so few are watching. But that doesn’t count, does it because Qld fans don’t jump off the NRL bandwagon....unless they do...but that doesn’t count...

you may not be getting anything out of Qld but that's the NRL's fault for having 1 club in a city over 2 mil people. It also shows that Bris arent that into the NRL if the broncos arent involved which is an indication of popularity in itself.

Again you ignore the large drop in metro ratings for the NRL which corresponds with the regional ratings drop. If you question the regional ratings then you also should question the metro ratings.

Furthermore, your comments about popularity of NRL in NSW/QLD is pure speculation. I can speculate too. AFL ratings in Melbourne are far higher than NRL in Sydney, and it make perfect sense that AFL ratings in Tas/VIC would follow a similar pattern. Then you need to understand that the AFL is more popular in NSW/QLD regionals than NRL in AFL states. The metros show this so why wouldnt the regional ratings?

AFL gets excellent ratings in regional WA, TAS and VIC. Then you add the ratings in regional NSW and QLD where AFL is far more popular than RL in AFL states, and you get 150-200k for AFL's regional ratings in prime time.

Thanks for telling me where I have and havent travelled too

The Storm as well as being the most popular on PTV - of either code - got 96k in a FTA club game earlier this year. Any of your 'more popular' expansion clubs do anythig similar to that :hmm: anything remotely similar??? No one dislikes
AFL more than regional viewers in these states!
