Updated numbers for NRL: 812k. A certain win over the AFL streaming inclusive.

I don't know how the AFL if faring compared to 2019 numbers but they are looking very lacklustre thus far this season.
pretty comfortable win to the NRL by 50K or so when streaming is included

yeah IKR

what these fumblers don't realise is when they put up that argument , they highlight the true value of both sports to broadcasters & advertisers.
both codes pre covid media rights deals
AFL 2.5 Billion for 6 years
NRL 1.9 Billion for 5 years

the AFL had 199 regular season games & 9 finals x 3 hours , or 624 hours of telecast per year
The NRL had 192 , 9 finals & about 5 rep games X 2 hours , or 428 hours of telecast per year

Broadcasters placed the value of an hour of the AFL , its ability to earn them $$ with advertising .. pay subscrtiptions etc
at
$667,735

they valued an hour of the NRL at
$887,850

Interesting to see the FTA numbers from last night with the West Coast Eagles vs Collingwood Magpies in the AFL and Melbourne Storm vs Sydney Roosters in a top of the table clash in the NRL. The AFL easily winning the FTA metro markets.

A miserly 35,000 viewers in Melbourne...prime time for the dominant and victorious Storm in the NRL. The GWS Giants pull those kind of tv ratings in Sydney during the afternoon.

SEVEN’S AFL: FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL Channel 7 542,000 19,000 276,000 33,000 80,000 134,000

FRIDAY NIGHT NRL LIVE Channel 9 331,000 175,000 35,000 106,000 9,000 4,000

I think it is safe to say, Storm Fans in melbourne watch on FOX>
all there fox games are close to the highest rated.

328k on Friday,

reason for this is fans dont get to watch on FTA every week like the swans or lions so they get FOX>

They're incredible Fox numbers. With streaming it would be getting near 500K! Meaning it smashed the metro FTA number. Amazing!!!!

Fox ratings last year in Melbourne werent that high - less than 20k on average (and before that it was about 17k in 2017). I havent got any data for this year.
Storm games would be an higher average..
compared to the other 7 games.
