Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
So let me get this straight, the AFL is on Southern Cross in regional areas, as is the NRL, yet the NRL has a ratings disadvantage?
Is this what I'm hearing?

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
so after July the AFL will remain on Southern Cross and the NRL will go to Win. Will they then have a ratings improvement aka advantage? I mean if you guys are saying SC ratings are unfair isnt that also unfair to the AFL?leeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 6:45 pmdisadvantaged no.. i would say more along the lines of an improvement.

Southern Cross ratings are not fair or unfair.NlolRL wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 6:57 pmso after July the AFL will remain on Southern Cross and the NRL will go to Win. There not all equal Fred. The more Canberra viewers or other regional areas, the better the ratings will be for there game.Fred wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 4:26 pmThat shouldn't matter should it as rating are inferential statistics - that is the infer to the population. If it were a smaller area (total population) then that would explain it - with WIN having a larger "pool" - thus 1 person watching out of 10 people surveyed would mean 10 people in a population of 100 but 100 people in a population of 1000...... if my maths is right

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
That’s what I said... as the ratings are just a sample that infers to the population it is measuring it really comes down to what population is being used and it’s size. I could sample 1000 people and 500 are watching rl. If I am inferring to a population of a million the ratings will be higher than if I’m inferring to a population of 500000 naturally. So if win is covering a larger population to what SC did then yes it’s rating figure will be higher. You could have exactly the same set top boxes and same people with them wouldn’t matter. Remember... ratings are no actual people watching... they are a “guess”

I do not like the ratings system either, i think it's a joke in today's modern world.Fred wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 8:24 amThat’s what I said... as the ratings are just a sample that infers to the population it is measuring it really comes down to what population is being used and it’s size. yes maybe 30 years ago it was as good as it gets, but today i recan it is flawed.
and i think there should be a better system put in place.

The_Wookie wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 7:34 pmYes they can. And I have before - essentially AFL regionals were only being released for prime time games, and we werent getting any data for the 5 other matches a week which hurt the average something chronic - we're talking saturday afternoons on regional victorian tv, regional wa and tasmanian ratings that were never available before 2016 unless they were prime time.baselinepanther wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 3:52 pmand no one can explain , no one.. effectively
how afl regional ratings went from 60% of the NRL's
to 80% or more
overnight
no one
nothing dodgey tho hey haha
Its funny, because remember how you lot bitched about NRL regionals not being counted prior to 2013. Well, we didnt start getting all the AFL data until a few years after that. Apparently squealing like a pig about your own regionals made you forget that everyone else might have regionals too.
oh
so
regionals can & are miscounted & not included in figures are they ?
like ours for the last 5 years ?
good to know

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings
AFL had a free run in Victoria whole of last season with the state in lockdown which had nothing to do,
and being ordered around by Dictator DAN and ordering them to stay in side
Now that is a FREE RUN
