Melbourne Storm have sold an 80% controlling stake to Swedish private equity firm EQT for $120 million, valuing the club at around $150 million.
Chairman Matt Tripp says it will largely be business as usual, with Tripp remaining chairman, Justin Rodski CEO, Craig Bellamy coach and Frank Ponissi football boss.

Re: The No.1 Football Code in Australia
would be interesting to see the finer details. i have zero idea on the finanicial output of the Storm but those equity firms usualy expect returns. football clubs are usually not the best investments made, unless you buy a Manchester united, Rael Madrid or Bayern München when money isnt an issueleeroy*NRL* wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2026 5:35 pmMelbourne Storm have sold an 80% controlling stake to Swedish private equity firm EQT for $120 million, valuing the club at around $150 million.
