Taking in comments of the other posts, even though it is extremely unlikely that:
Foxtel would seek to reduce the current deal and if they did
It would be extremely unlikely that the AFL would accept any reduction and
It would be extremely unlikely that Foxtel could actually enforce a reduction without extreme financial consequences and breaking the contract
And
There are several suitors waiting in the wings to pay for the AFL rights.
The AFL can win out of this…it does not, as i have posted before, auger well for the NRL.
And
what would generally happen if one party is not happy.. they would Work out things.
that can benefit them and be agreed upon.
like adding more content for example..

I would not of be surprised Tasmania was included in tv deal as it had a 2028 entry date.
20th and extra game however no

The advertising market cap of Tasmania is next to nothing so I doubt it would add much value to the whole dealleeroy*NRL* wrote: Mon Dec 15, 2025 10:19 amthat is not always the case, everything has a ceiling.Quolls2019 wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 10:36 pmAnd with more games the AFL will get more money, from foxtel…channel 7…or maybe somewhere else.

I was referring to when the 20th side comes in, so yes and extra per game per round.leeroy*NRL* wrote: Mon Dec 15, 2025 10:19 amthat is not always the case, everything has a ceiling.Quolls2019 wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 10:36 pmAnd with more games the AFL will get more money, from foxtel…channel 7…or maybe somewhere else.

They take is seriously enough for Channel 7 the supposed TV channel loyal to AFL to end up buying the Rignts to the Rugby League World Cup this year.makingnrlfansgowacko wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 4:09 pmStill no local players there Terry!Terry wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 3:30 pmThe Storm are doing a fine job promoting Australia's No. 1 sport in bleak city. 734k Melbournians who tuned into Australia's most watch TV event last week agree.leeroy*NRL* wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 11:22 am
because they never actually tried,
either did the NRL
this has all changed now since 2024
and now in 2025 With Pathways focus from the Melbourne Storm Soley focused on Victroria
Melbourne Storm's pathways include a full men's system in the NSWRL with teams in the Harold Matthews Cup (U17), SG Ball Cup (U19), and Jersey Flegg Cup (U21) competitions. For 2026, they will also field a stand-alone reserve-grade team in the NSW Cup and will introduce two female teams in the U17 and U19 grades. The club is transitioning away from its previous feeder club partnerships and is focusing on developing talent from within Victoria.
Men's pathways
NSWRL junior competitions: Storm has teams in the Harold Matthews Cup (U17), SG Ball Cup (U19), and Jersey Flegg Cup (U21).
2026 reserve-grade: A new stand-alone reserve-grade team will compete in the NSW Cup starting in 2026.
Focus: The system is designed to foster a strong club connection and develop a greater number of home-grown Victorian players.
Female pathways
2026 teams: Melbourne Storm will field two new female teams in the U17 and U19 grades starting in 2026.
(this should of been done 20 years ago)
too lazy and short sighted literally and getting Talent from QLD was classed as the easier way.
Thanks and welcome![]()

Again brings the answer why the tv excs and advertisers don’t take those ratings seriously only NRL fans do

Why not just buy up the competition and control the opposition like many businesses do?GlobalRugbyLeague wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 11:01 amThey take is seriously enough for Channel 7 the supposed TV channel loyal to AFL to end up buying the Rignts to the Rugby League World Cup this year.makingnrlfansgowacko wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 4:09 pmStill no local players there Terry!Terry wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 3:30 pm
