Again the international, with the H&A stuff vs the AFL H@A season alone!
The last time PVL tried to pitch this he was laughed out of the office! So more propaganda of meaningless numbers the advertisers don’t take seriously will help the case in the NRL

NRL does not make much money from the International Game, it is actually an expensive exercise.makingnrlfansgowacko wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 2:12 pmAgain the international, with the H&A stuff vs the AFL H@A season alone!

so lets just include
ALL THE NRL has to offer in Australia and NZ and the PNG through the mens and womens games.
which as said has exploded the past 6 years.
With A National Game, PNG and NZ teams into the fold.

It would hard to put a percentage on the SOO Concept now (unless they break up the deal) which they just may in this deal
do the Math>> SOO draws massive tv Figures and media attention..
it gets 12 million viewers for 3 games.
what and they recan it was worth $100mill back than.. per season.
NRL in total get's 224million viewers per season.

yes the figures are never broken down, yet there have been several articles about it over the years stating the estimated worth!leeroy*NRL* wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 7:11 pmwhat that ORIGIN worth $100mill per year (im not saying it does notmakingnrlfansgowacko wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 6:37 pmSo magically it doesn’t apply any more and live in pretend land with the rest of the NRL folk?leeroy*NRL* wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 5:03 pm

so the math is done for you by people with much better insite than me!
the AFL deals had no international, SOO or rep stuff and the NRL deal does! NRL gets less so work out from there the NRL H&A season is worth far less

The State of Origin (SOO) series is considered the most lucrative annual sporting event in Australia, with estimates suggesting it is worth
upwards of $100 million a year in revenue.
Here is the breakdown of its value:
Total Revenue: The series generates massive revenue for the NRL through broadcasting rights, sponsorship, and ticket sales, with projections indicating it could exceed $100 million annually.
Economic Impact: The three-game series provides a massive boost to the host city's economy, often resulting in tens of millions of dollars in visitor spending.
Player Payments: While the primary salaries for players are covered by their respective NRL clubs, they receive significant match payments for participating in Origin, often exceeding $30,000 per game.
Reinvestment: Despite the high revenue, a large portion of the earnings is returned to the NRL to fund the game, community programs, and junior development.
The State of Origin remains the flagship commercial product for the NRL, significantly outperforming regular NRL club games in terms of commercial value.

If you add up SOO and rep games per year it is like 10 games per season at best. which includes 7 Internationals.makingnrlfansgowacko wrote: Tue Feb 24, 2026 6:42 pmyes the figures are never broken down, yet there have been several articles about it over the years stating the estimated worth!leeroy*NRL* wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 7:11 pmwhat that ORIGIN worth $100mill per year (im not saying it does notmakingnrlfansgowacko wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 6:37 pm

I would put State of Origin Game at about $30million per game for the broadcaster. (just Australia) = $90million per season just in broadcast dollars
Putting NRL v AFL head to head for H&A is interesting..
both seasons have literally the same amount of matches, once NRL goes to 18 teams.
AFL makes more money for each Grand Final Purley on the fact there is alot more advertising opportunities.
Ratings NRL (H&A) hits around 200million Approx for a national average audience per season. on FTA and FOX
Ratings AFL (H&A) hits around 165million Approx for a national audience per season per season on FTA and FOX
NRL controls 4 of the top 5 highest rated games per season.
(we wait and see how it unfolds)

Nine boss Matt Stanton says the broadcaster won’t overpay to retain the NRL rights if the financials “don’t stack up”, as the company revealed it has inked a number of AI deals through its publishing business.
The advertising market for free-to-air television has weakened since the NRL last agreed its rights deal in 2020 and the AFL secured a $4.5 billion deal in 2022,
