Post by azif »

:-k

:hmm:

ok ok
lets see

The artificially boosted Thuns , having their best season they have ever had ,
sitting in the 8 , looking pretty
sun shining brightly on Saturday , playing a Vicdopian side

crowd 13,064

The Titans
dead last , awful.... playing like old twats
& short priced favorites for the spoon
playing a team that had conceded 100 points in their last 2 games
pouring rain
torrential on Sunday

crowd 13,382

      :(/ :(/ :(/
Battle , what battle of the Gold Coast ? :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/

side note

Storm 21,399 yesterday

the stumbling & bumbling at the MCG
23,231
wow

the Suns averages are similar to what the Titans average in a so called League dominated area

the Storm average far less than the lowest averagei

you speak of the 21k the storm got in Melbourne like its some fine achievement

Was a good crowd I thought for the suns. It was a crap day - rained in morning (got out of the lawn and hedging :) ) and wind was freezing. Remembering wacko that this is Rugby League territory - so to get over 13000 on a crap day at Carrara against a crap low drawing team was pretty good. Also had the Pies playing Sharks in the VFL just up the road - was torn as to which to go to myself.

ive never been that side of the world except to Sydney once, but we are told its League Territory by the highly intelegent NRL fans! but it appears the AFL is finding its place and growing leveling it out with the Titans

whats the crowd and atmosphere like for the VFL games?

Definetely rl is king - by a long way - and Aussie rules have always had a good footprint - with grassroots growing. I maintain Titans aren’t greatly followed or popular - people already have a nrl team but others maintain they aren’t on the nose - but yes - both teams pull similar crowds which, given it is rl territory - supports my point re: Titans.

the AFL seems to be taking the Chinese style long term approach, by doing a lot of investing at the grassroots level and continue to support teams and help become financially stable, the NRL seems to expect the clubs or government to do a lot of this them self and seem hesitant to expand using their own finances, it will take decades to really take a strong hold of an area, so long as they keep producing players that play at the top level only proves the game and it increasingly grows

Thuns
22,871 ( 15,000 Collingderp fans )

Titans
24,533

so what you are saying that seeing apparently no one follows the AFL in QLD and follows the Suns, Collingwood have better drawing power than Broncos do an hr down the road from Brisbane?
