I remember one year in the NRL they had to give away tickets for the Grand Final just days out from the match.
I mean how embarrassing is that.
At the AFL Grand Final there are people willing to pay 4X the price of a ticket to get in.

I would imagine people, me included, listen in their cars when they can't get near a TV.

Re: Rank the Codes in QLD
I just saw last nights ratings for AFL & NRL.
786,000 for the footy
385,000 for the Rugby League.
Yet you Rugby League guys think your sport is watched by more people than the AFL. Its laughable how deluded you are.

Re: Rank the Codes in QLD
The Storm game got 32,000 viewers in Melbourne for a top 4 massive clash. That is a joke.

Re: AFL and cricket generate more tourism than Raiders and Brumbies in Canberra
It makes sense that a side outside of the region when it plays draws more tourists
AFL fans do definitely travel more than NRL fans.
the 30K league fans from NSW & QLD who travelled to the SOO in Melbourne & the 20K to Perth

Re: AFL and cricket generate more tourism than Raiders and Brumbies in Canberra

Re: AFL and cricket generate more tourism than Raiders and Brumbies in Canberra
If not a combined NT and North Queensland team, then yeah Canberra makes sense for the 20th team. Extra broadcast money would like you say, pay for it, along with lots of travelling fans to the ACT to support the local economy.
I’ve posted before that a Northern Australian team would also be a ...
