Oh good heavens when I was growing up Aussie Rules was loaded with tradies! I think there still are plenty as well! The fans of both codes are very similar in demographic in their heartland. It might be more office boys in Sydney and Brisbane granted but not anywhere else.

Excuse me, they didn't smash them at all. Yes State of Origin 1 and 3 and the NRL Grand Final beat the AFL Grand Final, but it was by no means any sort of thrashing. It was quite competitive - as it should be. The right result for both codes.
