I would expect considerable variance in support in a market that it is not the mainstream sport ... You are going to get a large variance in support both up and down. This is rl heartland guys ? And ratings ... Without fox ratings we can't tell actual figures although with the high uptake of fox in Sydney we can assume its a decent proportion of national figure.

There's still a lot of nsw blokes running around in the afl. Why is it such an issue. Swans get great crowds .. Especially in nrl heartland where attending sport is something they don't do well , the have 5 leagues so obviously people are playing the game in decent numbers, and there are quite a few...

Fact is afl has a significant presence in Sydney as player numbers indicate. Afl has significant interest with a significant number of Sydney spiders as evidenced by player numbers, number of leagues, membership, crowds. Leading to significant media coverage.
