Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
You could , you could also say Melbourne get 4 FTA games each week - 3 live, Adelaide get 4 FTA games each week - 3 live, Perth gets 4/5 games on FTA usually 2 live/ Destroyed??? I dont think so. firstly you dismiss 40% of the audience. The AFL also shows there game to 2 of there 3 states live. The...

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
The AFL has 198 matches + 10 finals matches for a total of 208. 207 of these matches will be shown live on PTV. Around 105 of these will be shown on FTA, about 75 live. Rugby League has 193 matches + 10 finals + around 8 Representive Matches for a total of 211. 125 of these matches will be on PTV, ...

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
 The AFLs highest Paytv rating was about 270k last year. Already after 4 rounds they've rated over 300k three times! 2 of the 4 saturday nights have had concurrent foxtel games which have rated over 300k when added together. They are smashing last years foxtel ratings for highest figures and t...

Re: VFL Crowds plummeting after just 3 rnds
4 rounds down is a bit early to say that GWS has failed or that they wont work in the long term. As for the Suns I expect them to do ok with a self managed stadium which means they can make a nice profit on crowds of 15-20 K and good sponsorship.

Re: The No.1 Football Code In Australia
NRL has about 40% of its viewers in regional areas, compared to the AFL with about 25%. So in my opinion comparing just metro is unfair (at least when comparing popularity) because only about 1 million viewers in Australia are now not counted (initially). Financially a metro viewer is worth more the...

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
No, youre including ptv. This is a calculation showing FTA regional ratings as a percentage of metro FTA ratings. The numbers are usually about 1/3rd. Foxtel is additional to these numbers. I added metro to regional and then worked out the percentage that was regional. reread my late edit. I unders...

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
:? 1029k FTA metro and 358k regiona FTA. therefore the regional audience was 34.8% or over 1/3rd of the metro audience. Sorry X man this is not quite right 358K of a total audience of 1387K = 25.8% which is about the AFL average. It is however a very big figure given the simulcast No, youre includi...

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
According to your AFL website site, Xman. Your regionals were less than 30%, based on Anzac Day figures. :? 1029k FTA metro and 358k regiona FTA. therefore the regional audience was 34.8% or over 1/3rd of the metro audience. Sorry X man this is not quite right 358K of a total audience of 1387K = 25...

Re: The No.1 Football Code In Australia
nope different poll one. I agree with almost all that you say. I would just say that popularity and TV ratings are not the same thing. It is impossible to watch more then about 5 AFL games live every week so it is hard to judge its popularity in that sense. NRL is much more TV viewer friendly in th...

Re: The No.1 Football Code In Australia
How do you define the no. 1 football code? Here are some potential criteria popularity: Take a sample of people from as many areas as you can and ask them to name their favourate code or favourate team. Add up the totals and work out who it the most popular. (in 2007 a poll was taken with AFL being ...

Re: Fight Club - Football TV Ratings Thread
What I found interesting about the AFL ANZAC game was that it was a 5 hour broadcast on C7 that averaged more then 1 million FTA viewers metro. It would have had 3-4 times the amount of advertising then say a NRL SOO or the NRL Grand final. This could mean from a purely monetary point of view that t...

Re: VFL Crowds plummeting after just 3 rnds
37 games down and the AFL crowd average is now above last years average at about 37000. Suprising what 1 extra game can do. As for the averages going down, this is how it works if you introduce 2 new teams whos stadia capacity is about 12000 less (metricon and skooda when it it finished) then the AF...
