the amount of attention the media have given to country or regional areas
you would think the AFL are the first to do it

You still on the GC LeRoy? If so, good to see the gather round getting plenty of media - so successful in that respects I guess.

Re: Gather Round

AFL having been doing it for a while Leroy. Cairns, Ballarat, Alice Springs, cairns, Darwin …. Not a new thing in afl. Leroy didn't infer it was new in the afl he said the afl are carrying on like they invented elite sport in regional australia ... they carry on like they invent a lot of things whe...

Re: Footy Crowds - 2024

Surprisingly reasonable crowd tonight at the Suns game- against a generally low drawing Haawthorn. Very surprised. Also for those playing at home - seems a majority Suns crowd but plenty of hawks supporters - but easily outnumbered by suns colours - lots of neutral (no colours) like me. Great news ...

Re: AFL snubs indigenous players! What a sport!!

Wasn’t the concern from the AFL at the drop in Indigenioua players - think it is down to 64 or 62 which is a lot lower than a few years ago. I thought they brought this up as a concern- that they would like it back at that previous Levrl. Is good to see the africam players of indigenious decent play...

Re: Battle Of Brisbane 2024

I cant believe how big the build up to this Rugby League Derby is tonight. I am from Brisbane & it is so embarrassing that Rugby League is the most popular sport here. It makes us look like the biggest bogans to everyone else. I mean imagine going to England or America & a city had Rugby Le...

Re: Gather Round

Penciling this in for next year me thinks. They should look to having it over a long weekend though - which would be good. My only issue is that accomodation will be through the roof. Two games in Barossa apparently next year so a trip to a few wineries would not go astray either.

Re: former president of WADA slams AFL an unclean sport

I think the AFL is one of few to even have such a code for non-game day testing of illicit substances - that was my read of the articles anyway. Many other sports don't test for this from what I can see - I believe the NRL also does as well - but not many others world wide. The former head of ASADA ...

Re: former president of WADA slams AFL an unclean sport

But do you see where it is a voluntary code - hence I commented to someone else who stated the AFLPA watered it down - re: they could have just said no to it - not many other sports actually have the AFLs out of comp testing for illicit substances - which this falls under. I do agree that it looks p...

Re: former president of WADA slams AFL an unclean sport

Here's another article that explains the different testing regimes, what they test for and why, including the AFL out of comp testing which is the topic of the moment. So any funding is tied to WADA and SIA (formerly ASADA) it seems, and then there is the AFL out of comp testing for illicit substanc...

Re: what is wrong with fumblers ...serious question

Serious answer. You don't need to worry about it so much. Many great AFL posters on this forum. They contribute to the debates in an knowledgeable, informative fair, honest and respectful manner.. Bad eggs in every sport, could comb through the papers and find plenty of deplorable behaviour by Nrl ...

Re: former president of WADA slams AFL an unclean sport

then the afl becomes non signatory to the WADA code that all other major sports on the planet are part of , potentially putting at risk millions in federal govt funding the afl was weak piss weak infact this is a disgrace plain & simple [-X [-X [-X [-X I thought wada just did performance enhanc...
