Plenty of goals on the run from many different positions that go well over an imaginary cross bar. Also some amazing goals kicked from boundary line that are bounced through that are much harder than say running into an open goal from 30 metres out directly in front.

just because League has a cross bar it doesnt mean the AFL needs to also!
heck why not change the oval to a rectangular field and the player when kicking for goal has to use a plastic cup for the ball
when the team is trying to get the ball up there end of the field to score why not restrict ...

No points for missing with no side goals.
No points for hitting the uprights either.
No stopping of play and then been able to stand and take field goal shit.
