Re: Roosters bring AFL star out of retirement

Now Izzy was and out and out failure. I disagree. Because Hunt and Folau didn't star people say they were abject failures. Hunt was serviceable and even stared once or twice. Folau, never found rhythm but he was better than Mike Pike when he began his AFL career. Pyke persisted and became an AFL pr...

Re: GWS / SUNS >> How much more dollars

He did say since inception. ... so I am thinking there is some quirky stat around it being from inception. No And he never mentioned home games either. So I am thinking there is something in that also. So before spouting off I’d just make sure you read the post. But yes, I would like to see the fig...

I think the afl would love to have SoO be as successful or anything as successful as SoO for that matter.
The AFL did have SOO, they invented it and it was highly successful.
Having so many interstate teams killed the demand for an AFL SOO.

Re: GWS / SUNS >> How much more dollars

Interesting fact.
Ever since it's inception the GWS has averaged higher attendances than any NRL club.

That's since inception everybody!!!!!!!

Re: Soo revival .....

Have never been really interested in these silly Victoria vs Allies or All Stars concepts. It's not S.O.O. It's S.O.O. selection maybe but not S.O.O. There is no state "Allies". Fortunately we have state Vs state in the AFL every week. That's why S.O.O. died in the AFL. NRL S.O.O. is two teams, thr...

For someone to play RL at the top level they need ..
Not much at all.
It used to be reasonably common for people to play Australian Rules Football and then swap over to Norther English Rules Rugby in their latter sporting years in Sydney.

so we had started the game with zero bench.
during the game we had 2 major injuries in the 1st half.
it was the 2nd half they killed us, being fatigued and being outnumbered.
A not that uncommon experience and you cannot penalise a team for having a full squad.

Re: HSBC dumps Wallabies to join Swans

I think it may be then tapping into the rugby union folk who have left rugby union... like for like re: followers in NSW. Plus swans get plenty of press on Sydney. And are a national brand. If they were to sponsor an NRL likely not to 1 hit their target market and 2. Not get the level of national e...

Re: Junior AFL to penalise teams for winning by too many points. Can ya believe it???

i agree with mercy rule in junior sports, i myself in Rugby League U18's have been mercy ruled 70 - 10 The game ended with 15 mins to go and it was 13 v 11 players ( no bench) (injuries) but no to penalizing a team U18s is undoubtedly serious business but that situation helps neither team. What is ...

Re: AFL rated the second toughest sport in the world

League had the ultimate leg up with the SL wars, Packer and Murdoch going head to head, promoting the hell out of league on their networks and their media outlets! League has hit its peak & is now slowly dwelling away in its own. Yes, like two bidders at an auction determined to get the prize, Pack...

Re: Junior AFL to penalise teams for winning by too many points. Can ya believe it???

But penalising a team for winning by too much is silly... put the rules on place prior such as not scoring when one team is up by a certain amount. Yes. I would suggest that that taking a player off and adding that player to the bench could be a start. Whilst this is generally a very small issue in...

Re: HSBC dumps Wallabies to join Swans

The fact is that the Sydney Swans picked up a lucrative sponsorship in a competitive sports market.
I'm sure even rl people can understand the implications to that.
