I don't get why that don't just have a giant global comp with relegation or conference style and include all nations teams in both hemispheres.

AFL is the most popular because Melbournians all follow sport. Sydney siders are distracted by other things such as food, fashion, real estate, education, BBQs, beaches, etc.

NRL is just better to watch in TV. AFL is better at the games. Two very different sport.

Too cold to watch at the grounds. Nothing beats watching at home.
