Re: Battle Of Brisbane 2024
News Corp for years been the majority shareholder of the Broncos so it is in their interest to excessively hype up and promote major games. For years NC in Brisbane has only given other sports limited coverage Eventually when the AFL grows to a bigger percentage of the Brisbane sports market and the...

Re: Darwin , RL heatland
Australian Rules is by far the most popular sport in Darwin. The NTFL Grand Final is a very popular event. The Tiwi Islands Grand Final attracts tourists from around Australia. The Arafura games includes an international Australian Rules competition featuring teams from Asian countries. Rugby League...

Serious answer. You don't need to worry about it so much. Many great AFL posters on this forum. They contribute to the debates in an knowledgeable, informative fair, honest and respectful manner.. Bad eggs in every sport, could comb through the papers and find plenty of deplorable behaviour by Nrl f...

Re: GWS / SUNS >> How much more dollars
Their needs to be a second team in Sydney. And it's not GWS as we know it. This second team needs to embrace potential fans from all over Sydney, North, South, and West and play at a renamed Giants stadium. The whole GWS or Western Sydney angle don't work because nobody from the GWS area identifies ...

Re: former president of WADA slams AFL an unclean sport
The AFL players association had too much say on this policy. and watered it down, so players avoid being penalised., they need to butt out.
Leave the development of such policy to administrators and consultants who have expert knowledge of substance abuse in sport.

Re: GWS / SUNS >> How much more dollars
Homebush was the correct decision, it's central to a large area of Western Sydney. Looking at the map Blacktown is very far out in north west direction and not as easy for fans to commute. Blacktown Giants sounds terrible and would not win any fans. Homebush ( and Canberra ) is the correct location ...

Re: Broncos to hit 60,000 members in 2024
Lion approaching 50000 members 2024 a terrific result. Broncos approaching 60000 members is a shocking performance for 's team in RL heartland. ( who until recently had no other RL club to compete with in a city of over 2 million ) Just goes to prove that RL is not the all conquering universally lov...

Re: Battle of the Gold Coast - Suns vs Titans
Great start for the Sun's and I agree that the attendance figures will only increase drawing a lot more local support. Sun's are much loved by local business owners as their home games fill restaurants, cafes, hotels motels and any other assortment of tourism ventures. I hope they can string quite a...

Re: afls zero round ridiculed by afl greats
I was a bit sceptical of this opening round concept thinking it may fall a bit flat. However excellent crowds have changed my mind. Nice to see a large turnout of local GWS fans at homebush. Gold coast also had a good crowd . Lions and Swans full house. Great way to grow the game whilst the NRL are ...

Re: Americans don’t give a rat’s ass about the NRL
NRL played in Vegas is irrelevant to the average American sports fan.
This exhibition game was only to provoke interest in the Australian media, a left of field attention seeker.

Lions second most supported team in Brisbane, great achievement in RL heartland.

Re: Grand Final Entertainment
The AFL Grand Final entertainment featuring rock icons KISS is now seen as one of the best ever.
The overall production, performance and music makes for spectacular prelude to the Grand Final. It's gonna be a hard act to follow., nobody can top that.

Re: Grand Final Entertainment
I used to think the NRL did the pre gsme, half time entertainment so well but seems in recent years the AFL have lifted their game. Maybe the Meatloaf debacle led to this ? Robbie Williams last year was unbelievable and this year the afl have Kiss. I’m expecting they’ll perform to their usual best ...
