Re: Sydney AFL shunned - no one cares!!!!
the AFL came out and stated that the reason they did this with two games overlapping
was to make the attendance bigger... ( did not really make sense)
they said the Tv ratings would not change much having two games to the 1
Puzzling really...
Weird. The one thing the Swans do well is ...

Re: The damning truth behind the AFL's western sydney failure.
Yet some how the Melbourne Storm is a success in your eyes!
Wrong you loser.. :[]
Swans are bigger success than the Storm (period)
They are both successful expansions
Gosh you are one mental case...
I do think there is a case that the Swans are likely more ingrained now ...

Re: AFL & NRL Footy TV Ratings - 2026
The AFL has moved to explain Friday's double-headers. The view is broadcast figures don't change significantly for non-Vic games, but local attendance is maximised by playing in marquee slots. Of the double-headers, 7/10 will be played outside of Victoria.

Re: NRL in race to reimagine Magic Round as rival AFL event doubles profits
I have always failed to see why it is an issue if one code or business is doing something why it is a bad thing to copy it - I think it would be neglectful not to. AFL copied Magic round concept - a great idea. The AFL is doing it slightly differently - and if this benefits the concept of Magic ...

Re: The damning truth behind the AFL's western sydney failure.
Same lines were used against my club in the early 90s with constant calls for the Swans to fold, no crowds, no members or juniors blah blah, and yet look now… the Swans are easily the biggest sporting club in NSW.
different times.
Swans did fail and they were bought out...and propped up ...

Re: The damning truth behind the AFL's western sydney failure.
apparently the numbers are correct for Sydney's west numbers.. but they were the figures for 2 to 3 weeks ago.
GWS (Vietnam) how much more can they possibly burn..
all the gains are being poured into northern clubs
while neglecting Southern clubs (nice going) :thumbleft:
Same lines were ...

Gees sounds like a lot of work to do when you see South Australia is already getting double the amount of money from their AFL Gather Round. Is Magic Round getting stale?

Yep. Lies, damned lies and statistics!!!!! The thing that all the AFL commentators, including the Swans Chairman agree on, is that GWS have made no impact on western Sydney whatsoever. And whatever the actual junior ...

Re: Quality of the game
Yeah - AFL has a very limited pool in Australia alone and competes with NRL in QLD and NSW (and Union), Whilst they have done well to grow the game there, especially at grassroots, this likely isn't enough when you keep including teams - despite population growth. They do not have the overseas ...

Re: NRL EXPANSION
Seems the NRL is really worried about the AFL in Queensland.
The NRL’s former chief strategist has urged Peter V’landys and the ARLC to launch a 20th team in Brisbane’s west to tackle the AFL’s $1 billion invasion
“We’re giving up our heartland to the AFL.”
