Re: Rugby union is rising in the US. That’s bad news for the NRL
To compare the skills in League to AFL is far fetched!
But to an amateur Australian rules game is still a stretch
Even a game of amateur union has far more skill’s involved than a game of professional league
been to 100's of pubs in Sydney & Brisbane >> and all over NSW AND QLD
and all ...

Re: Rugby union is rising in the US. That’s bad news for the NRL
not every one obsesses over league and has little else to do in life!
in short, they are both played on similar fields and look very similar when played, similar rules aside from the obvious tackle count & a few others
its easy to mistake them for the casual viewer
Yeah, that's true ...

Re: Rugby union is rising in the US. That’s bad news for the NRL
You could say this confusion is widespread in Australia too. I know many footy fans in SA and VIC who refer to Rugby League as simply Rugby. They look totally confused when it is pointed out that they are two different codes/games.
that Proves one thing, they have not really given the games ago ...

Re: Fox Sports dumps free to air NRL Las Vegas coverage
Watched an interesting show in Vegas -basically saying yes, it is empty - but they don't care (it is down on tourism numbers quite a bit). The gist was that the hotels on the strip are stinging people for every little thing - things mentions was $70 if you open your bar fridge - regardless of ...

Re: Fox Sports dumps free to air NRL Las Vegas coverage
The NRL took a gamble in Las Vegas and lost.
They lost respect and credibility as American NFL fans dismissed the spectacle , the circus has come to town but nobodys interested.
The next time the NRL ventures into Las Vegas they should stick only to the casinos , where they can gamble and not ...

Re: TV RIGHTS KICK OFF
interesting thought.. by the time NRL sign its TV deal, (which is all speculation of when this Year)
which has been stated by NRL HQ before (finals)
INFLATION would of went up almost 25% since the last NRL tv DEAL has was signed... ( just wow)
(there is no denying from anyone) and i mean everyone ...

Re: AFL & NRL Membership Tally - 2026
I think the distinction is that if you buy a membership to an AFL club it is because you support the club, want to go to a few games - whereas joining a Leagues club could be for multiple reasons and nothing to do with supporting the club. That's my thinking anyway looking from the outside. I'm ...

Re: TV RIGHTS KICK OFF
Nine boss Matt Stanton says the broadcaster won’t overpay to retain the NRL rights if the financials “don’t stack up”, as the company revealed it has inked a number of AI deals through its publishing business.
The advertising market for free-to-air television has weakened since the NRL last agreed ...

Re: TV RIGHTS KICK OFF
So magically it doesn’t apply any more and live in pretend land with the rest of the NRL folk?

Re: TV RIGHTS KICK OFF
Advertising
The SOO it self account for 10% to 12% of the total broadcast deal
that was a statement from 2015.. (maybe right, but it has never been put into details)
It would hard to put a percentage on the SOO Concept now (unless they break up the deal) which they just may in this deal ...

Re: TV RIGHTS KICK OFF
Again the international, with the H&A stuff vs the AFL H@A season alone!
The last time PVL tried to pitch this he was laughed out of the office! So more propaganda of meaningless numbers the advertisers don’t take seriously will help the case in the NRL
NRL does not make much money from ...
