No. Obfuscation is a cheap tactic. Any sport that is played in multiple states and territories is entitled to call itself Australian or National. Both competitions originated from one state, but neither is a state competition. So it should be either AFL/NRL or VFL/NSWRL.

I think the point is valid re the Charity Shield being a freebie for spectators and the A League games weren't. I would have been interested to see what the difference would have been if the CS only allowed for paying spectators.
