I would suspect that internationally Australian Football is recognised as Australia's premier football code. Certainly wouldn't be soccer.

have brought ping pong crashing down (like a demolished building)
to its knees and it would be struggling with attendances. Rugby and football combined will demolish ping pong, it will eventually will just take time but you are trying to stop the inevitable. we have a national
team a coach has has the capability to take us to the world cup next year
and if we reach the semi-final, the coverage of afl games will go to the bin. long gone are the days when ping pong was the dominant sport, times have changed pp is gradually being pushed to the edge , where for once must learn the meaning of survival in a whole new world.

Yeah that's why rugby still doesn't have a national competition in Australia and were scared of going into Melbourne, preferring the less hostile Perth option. As for soccer, well their national competition folded. Where was the support? The survival of soccer in Australia is dependent on the national team making a world cup.
