Can the NRL get more people than Ed Sheeran??

With next week being round 1 and the NRL'S bold move to play a double header at Optus stadium in Perth, the big question will be will they get even close to Ed Sheeran last night (60,000 k). We keep hearing how the NRL is the most popular code (from Pussycat at least) can they get at least 40,000 fans along?? In a state of 2.58 million??. Or will they struggle to get this amount, the AFL round 1 game at the same venue between WCE v Swans is a no brainer, 60,000 easy but we keep getting told RL is very popular in WA (again pussycat) will we get at least 40k??

Been thinking the same thing. If you believe some of the leaguies here, WA loves RL and is ripe for its very own team. Double header this week at the new stadium will be interesting along with tv ratings.

They would never play a game there so hardly a fair comparison yet back in years gone by prior to the Swans and got big crowds. Although I would expect it too happen today.

ok in saying>> home team support will always pull higher>>

the weather is 30 degrees on Saturday so perfect weather>>
not much competition either..

so no excuses..

the NRL I expect should pull around the 40-45k
which would be a great effort.

40k in a non heartland state Wow.

This will be similar to the year that Rugby League pulled a bigger crowd in Melbourne than any AFL match bar the Grand Final. Wow just Wow!

So if they get 35k will it be disappointing given you have 4 high drawing clubs, round 1 and perfect weather?? Not suggesting it will draw less than 40k but just wondering if you will be disappointed if it does??

yes I would be disappointed if they only got 35k
And the NRL would most likely be so as well.. even if they will not admit it>>

anything over 40k is a great result>

never said I was a fan. However, anyone who sells more tickets in history for a tour of Australian and NZ should be known by most, except sheltered internet warriors
In fact, over one million Aussie and Kiwi Sheerios have snapped up tickets to the singer’s stadium trek.

It means Sheeran has shattered the record set by Dire Straits 32 years ago, when they sold 950,000 tickets on one tour of Australia and New Zealand in 1986.
