don't you think it is a huge negative>> of the NRL showing the BRONCOS
a they did in previous years all the time on Friday night>>

many people complained that the broncos were on every Friday night
and in fact I recan it affected viewers>>

thank goodness this has changed with a 50% reduction>>

again> there are many other teams >> for example the cowboys that are only on FTA 33% of all games

they rate extremely well, and if they were in the AFL>>

they would have all games on FTA>>
giving a huge advantage in ratings.
So are you trying to tell me the cowboys outrate the broncos?
never even pointed to that they rate higher than the broncos>>

REGIONALS Are higher for cowboys games though...

my point in fact was>>

Would it be annoying if in the past you had to watch Collingwood every Friday night??
if yes..

continue to my next point>>

Would it annoy fans of the game having to watch Collingwood ??

also would it make you switch off ?

(also my other point was)

if the Cowboys were in the AFL scheuling. they would be on FTA each week..
which is a huge advantage the AFL scheuling...

as 70% of there games are restricted to FOX
whether it's annoying is irrelevant. The Broncos represent over 2 million people in your second biggest market. They have 16 FTA games this year. They are targeted by ch9 for no other reason than ratings. Yes the AFL target Perth and Adelaide teams, but we need multiple games to do it, unlike the NRL which only need 1 game.

Collingwood is one of 10 victorian teams. That's not the same thing

yes 16 FTA (well the team of Brisbane needs to represented>

why it may have a good effect on Brisbane figures>>
people in Sydney hate watching the broncos>>

plus forget the multiple games at the same time>>

a Crows v hawthorn can be played at 4:30pm
and Eagles v Collingwood can be played at 7:30
with both games on FTA into home states>>on Saturday afternoon

AFL scheduling is GUN!

but if they schedule A sydney side v Broncos they appeal to the Sydney market as well

Melbourne dont get many Saturday games this year. Many rounds they only get 3 games a round.

Yes this means Adelaide see the crows on FTA and Perth the eagles, but they are one team in 2 team cities. The night before the AFL had 2 Melbourne teams, or the swans play, and the Broncos were on Tv for the entire Brisbane to see

The targeting isnt as bigger strength as you make out because we have more heartland markets and more teams in each market. We dont have a single team that appeals to both Perth and Adelaide at the same time

- RL gets a massive boost from SOO and rep games
- Sydney is by far the most expensive advertising market in Aus
- Concurrent scheduling for the AFL no doubt impacted their leverage given their 9 games mostly overlap, reducing viewers

If a game goes To Sydney how does that help Newcastle, Wollongong. Illawarra, ACT or NZ Most of these cities are 100 & 100's of miles away?

Your mob will not show over 20% of the major FTA timeslots this year . Your only response is 'but, but. but Brisbane appear FTA 16 times this year. :-k

wrong. My main response is 'on average' the NRL still show higher performing teams on Friday and Thursday compared to the AFL

Friday Night.

Crows 5 0f 21matches
Swans 5 of 21
Rich 5 of 21
Broncos 5 0f 25

While 22% of AFL teams get zero matches on there night of nights - Doesn't that tell you something

Unlike the AFL the NRL does not have a main night. There best match could just as easily be a Pay TV game shown on any night of the week.
THE AFL’s fixturing for Friday night matches has been slammed by fans after a blowout at Adelaide Oval that saw Port Adelaide thump Carlton.

AFL has tried to fixture the better performing teams of recent seasons in the marquee slot

I did the figures for Thursday and Friday nights for the NRL and on average they have better performing teams than the AFL. Sure, they give the bottom teams a token game once or twice, but given the average this means they also play the best teams more often
Unlike the AFL the NRL does not have a main night. There best match could just as easily be a Pay TV game shown on any night of the week.
and often the AFLs best game is Saturday night or Sunday

A few seasons ago I compared the AFL's Friday ratings to the NRL's Thursday AND Friday ratings, and AFL still won. Fact is our Friday night games generally outrate anything the NRL's season puts up, irrespective of the night it's played. That's why all 9 of our finals outrated yours last year

Aah, the old ladder theory.

And your overlap theory.   60k would become 200k if there was no overlap. :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ Have the Suns ever got 200k?

The reason why Rugby League consistently accumulate more ratings is because we have a very even completion, 30% of teams are not rating basket cases. And we will also have the highest rating games again this just like every other year

Its hard to know what the biggest joke is you or your theories & excuses.

1.06m for rhe AFL despite the game being on 7mate everywhere except Melbourne and Adelaide.

Where as the NRL was on 9 into Melbourne.

This was a very comparable game, 2 popular heartland clubs v an expansion team, all reasonably successful of late.

And what do you know? The AFL won easily, again.

Maybe its because the AFL didnt show the lions v suns......lol
