It's round 10 in the AFL. Last year it was the 3rd highest rating round of the year with over 5.1M viewers. I will keep an eye on this years numbers but I suspect they won't get anywhere near 5M.

Last year they got nearly 1.9M on Fox at an average just over 207k. This year they have had 16 games rate less than 100k so it looks like a matter of how many 100k's less they'll get again this week.
Last year's round 10 had a Thursday night game. Therefore 4 of the 9 games were shown in isolation. This year's rnd 10 has no Thursday game

i actually count care, so there'll be no calls to Gill this week sorry. The AFL, nor Channel 7 are gonna care that the ratings will be less for this year's round compared to last year

I think both Ch 7 and the AFL will both be very concerned that there ratings are down 20% after 10 rounds.

They might be able to rig it onfield for teams to be successful.
But the AFl is powerless to stop people finally waking up to ( & turning off) the fact that the game is a mess .

Which while I'm on it: Wookie has confirmed on his other site that AFL on Fox is down 13% this year. When pushed he reluctantly admitted FTA is down 18%........yep........that's 18%. If you take out the 2 weeks of the Comm games it is still down 13%. ?
Actually when pushed i admitted that Friday night ratings were down 18%. I also said that there hasnt been enough data to compare completely to last years - Ive been waiting for it, but its very hard to get some figures now, and with the Comm Games, and being moved off the primary channel for two weeks, I cant even properly estimate what the figures should be with any degree of accuracy. I also said that i have strong objections to deriving any conclusions from 1 match in up to 9 on a given weekend.
But your Saturday night FTA Figures usually show up and there also very low. Melbourne often getting some very poor numbers.

Melbourne's biggest club & the fairy tale side of 2016 got a grand total of 888k viewers on Friday night!!!! Way, way, way down on 2017 numbers. The NRL fell over the line with 983k lololololololololol.

For a little bit of context: Round 10 AFL 2017 Friday night game rated 1.15M Swans v Hawks. This year it rated 888k. That's a catastrophic drop of 262k. Yep 262k in just one game.

On the same weekend 2017 the Friday RL rated 840k. This year 983k. An increase of 143k. That's a massive turn around of 405k between the 2 codes in ONE game. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!

AFL Sat. 4 fox games total 704k. FTA 401k. NRL 3 fox games 821k. Includes a massive 366k for Dragons v Panthers. And excludes Warriors NZ ratings of around 150k.

AFL less than 1.993M for 5 games. Albeit some minor regional & FTA numbers not available. NRL 2.965M for 6 games.

pretty hard to compare when the ratings havent been as easily available this year. I reckon we'd still be well ahead game v game though

both Collingwood and the dogs missed the 8 last year and look like doing it again. It was hardly a blockbuster. However, ratings are down, no question about it. Even the NRL with Broncos playing cant crack 1m which was not the case in previous years
