I read awhile ago Barney fuckloon was the highest in afl(Could have changed since then)

So who can earn more an elite fumbler
Or an alite RL player .

With elite players able to earn huge bonuses from Origin and Tests and other big games its another non contest.

And s good point in rl players being able to earn extra outside their nrl contracts. That is a plus for the elite nrl players compared to the elite afl players.

the 2018 salary cap will also be increased to $9.4 million, as the NRL, similar to the AFL and Cricket Australia, gives players a greater share of the game's revenue as part of a new collective bargaining agreement expected to be finalised on Friday.
The average player salary will increase to $313,000 next season and rise to $330,000 over five years.
The deal, which is awaiting approval from the Rugby League Players Association (RLPA), will end what has been a bitter stoush over pay between the league and the players' representatives.
"I think it's quite a balanced deal for everyone," Melbourne Storm premiership captain and RLPA general president Cameron Smith said.
The AFL finalised its pay deal earlier in the year. The average player salary is $371,000 and will rise to $389,000 in 2022.
Its salary cap is higher than the NRL but it has to be divided between more players.

Yes for sure they can earn more for rep games but comparing afl to nrl club contracts That’s a benefit/perk no doubt though.

Third party payments. The last I can remember is the approved deal for Chris Judd but I believe they then changed their mind. He was given an ambassadorial role for Visy I believe (Pratt big backer of Carlton). It just so happened to be around contract time or getting Judd to Carlton.

The Rugby League Players' Association is pushing for the abolition of third-party agreements amid allegations Manly rorted the controversial system to illegally pay players outside of the salary cap.

As revealed by Fairfax Media on Wednesday, the Sea Eagles are suspected of making secret payments to at least one player in previous seasons, according to information gathered by NSW police and NRL officials. It's understood a number of third-party agreements (TPAs) are also under the microscope for not being at arm's length from the club or for failure to properly declare them to the NRL

From what I can gather the highest paid player in Aust is
DAly Cherry Evans ....10 mill for 8 years

The highest AFl player is Billy Frankenstein..10 mill for 9 years

Wow well if true that would be s win for the nrl re highest paid contracted player.
