If you were a wealthy Chinese businessman, would you waste your money on a game played in a half empty third world stadium that only Aussies really turned up to watch.

I am pretty sure they would choose a sporting club giant like Manchester United before some unusual game they don't understand which is only played in Australia.

Persistence (aka millions of AFL $$$) pays. Future value is what they're looking at. Tapping that market, even a small slice would make a massive difference.
