The AFL GF draws around half a million NSW viewers . Throughout the season they would be lucky to draw a handful so using your logic it must be nothing more than event - a gimmick.
I never said it was a gimmick. However the fact that SOO easily outrates your own GF shows it has greater appeal than just RL. It's tribalism against a major rival. That's why the Olympics is so popular on TV compared to the popularity of the individual sports. It's patriotism driven

It may easily outrates your GF most years, but it gets similar to ours.

You need to get a grip on reality . Your Grand final did top the ratings last year but ours was the top the year before that and the year before that and Origin did a fair bit of topping also.

Unless the AFL can come up with something better than a wildcard we will continue to have 4 of the top 5 programs . :thumbleft:

And the years before that our GF won most of the time.......

Well the NRL should just scrap their season and play SOO every week. That way the NRL might win a week against the AFL

That's right, but things have changed. Rugby League is run by a new entity now and its leaving the AFL in its wake.

You must, as usual , be living in your own sheltered fantasy world. Im not sure when the AFL last out rated the NRL but I cant recall it ever happening since they first started counting all viewers and not just the metro ones.

say what? Last night is a perfect example of the two codes. AFL rated 1.2m and had 36k at the ground in an expansion city. NRL had two of their larger Sydney teams playing in heartland, barely got over 10k at the ground, and rated in the 800k range.

This is repeated all season, forcing you to constantly refer to the season's accumulative ratings and SOO
