The cumulative gross national audience during the home and away season exceeded 103 million (103,697,176), up from 102.7 million (102,722,355) in 2015.

The gross cumulative audience for the 2016 Toyota AFL Finals Series was 18,368,305. This marks an increase of 10.7 per cent on the total national viewership for the 2015 Toyota AFL Finals Series (16,588,991) and makes it the highest gross cumulative audience for an AFL Finals Series in AFL/VFL history.

This would put the total at 122,065,481. for 2016.

Doesnt include preseason etc

2016 NRL Ratings - from the NRL 2016 Annual Report

Premiership Cumulative Total - 112,061,705. + Origin (11,361,471) = 123,423,176

Doesnt include 4 nations, ANZAC tests etc.

That could be true Wookie but it is interesting/strange that Melbourne FTA TV out-rates Sydney night after night - sometimes by huge margins with the same programs & schedules. I've heard it said it is because Sydney has more Fox subscriptions however that can't explain BBL or the huge differences that occur regularly - particularly as Sydney's population is about 400k more than Melbourne.

given millions of advertising dollars are based on ratings dont you think OZTAM would have allowed for faulty or incorrectly allocated boxes?

not just sporting events.
than sydney>> when sydney has a higher population..

per population Sydney does poorly compared to most cities in Aus. Clearly people in Sydney dont watch that much TV in comparison

yep pretty much the only way to put it..

and tv ratings for all sports are affected by the large amount of pubs and sporting clubs across NSW
with figures i displayed last year>>

NSW doubling Victoria
and QLD even beating Victoria.
