Thu TV #AFLBluesTigers Seven/7mate National 792k, Metro 591k (Syd 19k Mel 372k Bri 24k Ade 104k Per 73k) Regional 201k (Vic 100k Tas 51k)

PTV to come, but way, way down on last years opener of 1104K and it was played between the same teams!

After PTV its down about 40k which isnt surprising given how Richmond and Carlton are travelling at the moment. Both were pathetic last year, and are expected to be again.

Our first round or so is usually a little lower given Perth get the game at 4pm on a work day

269k on STV

Down from 1,104,000 to 1,061,000.
Crowd was 73,137, also down from 75,706.

Over in NRL land, 10,479 reported at ANZ Stadium - lowest attendance for that derby since 1998.
combined metro + stv ratings topped at 979,000.

wins all round to the AFL for thursday.
Your opening match down 50k.

Our corresponding R4 match up 100k

What type of bizaro world are you people living in?

The world that says over 1m on TV is better than under 1m, and 73k at the ground is vastly better than 10k :[]

If you compare the 1st round Thursday night games for RL and fumbleball it's NRL 1.125m v FB 1.061m. So before you fumblers go high fiving and Wookie spitting out profanities there are many ways to compare and slice and dice ratings. I would say both codes are rating well.

Why would you do that given the NRL's first game wasnt shown against another sport on FTA?

Having Carlton and Richmond open the AFL season guarantees a good crowd but many neutrals show no interest so ratings dont reflect the season opener. Tonight's game should rate way better

Who says it has to be r1 v r1 given theyre a month apart? It was last night v last night under the same conditions.

And one could equally argue that the same conditions are R1 v R1.....first game of the season for both. That's why these comparisons are subjective and on a game to game or week to week basis spurious. I would wait till about a month of the fumblers comp and see where the aggregate and average ratings are at before high fiving and back slapping your fumbling mates.

but r1 v r1 are not the same conditions because the NRL play theirs against no other sport, while the AFL compete with the NRL
