Re: NRL to reap $1.2b from TV rights
Interesting, and there is no way of knowing what component of that is sponsorship and what part is for media rights ?? I see. Which would be worth more I wonder? I wonder what Toyota pay the afl?

There is every way of knowing. When you do a financial report, revenue from broadcast funding goes in one section and revenue from sponsorship funding goes in another.
Rugby League, the dominant force in Australian sport!

Re: NRL to reap $1.2b from TV rights
Okay , do they divide the amount they paid into Sponsorship and tv rights , put it all in tv rights , or all in sponsorship ? Just curious. If they put all in tv rights then we are looking at a different product being sold ... Tv rights that includes naming rights as opposed to tv rights that doesn't include naming rights.
I still don't go for adding in NZ tv rights either... A tad desperate. Especially when you are using value of tv rights to justify worth/relevance of a product in this country. Again , do you add in tv rights for super rugby that includes s.a and NZ to say union is really popular in aus ?

Re: NRL to reap $1.2b from TV rights
The amount for sponsorship and the amount for TV /IT would be well known by both parties and listed seperately.
SKY NZ will pay the NRL $100m over the next 5 years. It is no different to CH 9/7 or Fox.
The name of this thread is NRL to reap $1.2b from TV rights. Its listed in AFL v NRL . not AFL v part of the NRL/ or what parts best suit AFL fans - AFL v NRL!

Re: NRL to reap $1.2b from TV rights
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/busines ... 6535395267Under the five-year deal Telstra has agreed to double the $90 million it is believed to have paid the ARLC in 2007. In return it gains the exclusive broadcast rights to stream live rugby league matches to mobile phones and tablets regardless of their carrier.
In Aus the amount for the TV deal has been mentioned on the Fin review and other sources as 1.2b for telstra FOX/NINE.
Now the NZ deal was made 1 day before the season started, reason for this was that the NRL was asking 25m a year for 5 years and this was the reason for the delay. Will be in the vicinity of 100m mark and puts the NRL in number 1 position when regarding TV rights deals.

Re: NRL to reap $1.2b from TV rights
The telstra deal might be well known to both paties but unknown to us. Same again for the NZ TV rights. The 100 million you have put forward as fact is unknown. It could be 60 million or 120 million.pussycat wrote:The amount for sponsorship and the amount for TV /IT would be well known by both parties and listed seperately.

The funny thing is that the RL posters on this thread are happy to guess large numbers for the unknown parts of their rights and include naming rights for the NRL but the AFL are not allowed to add their naming rights. They ignore fact put forward by their own chairman preferring to quote numbers put forward by Internet blogs and newspaper articles that have no idea as to the amount of money received in their deal.

Again with your make believe. The fin review does not know the amount payed, you don't know how much was payed for NZ. Your chairman is on the record as saying they got 1.2 billion for all rights including Telstra and NZ. Unfortunately for you, he is the only one of the above who knows the facts.eelofwest wrote:http://www.theaustralian.com.au/busines ... 6535395267Under the five-year deal Telstra has agreed to double the $90 million it is believed to have paid the ARLC in 2007. To top it off even if the NRL got 1.3 billion this is still behind the AFL with their naming and radio rights added.
AFL rights 1.328 billion. NRL. 1.2 billion.

Re: NRL to reap $1.2b from TV rights
The article, quoting Graant, made it very clear that broadcaster funding - not sponsorship from naming rights was (at that time) $ 1.2 billion. 3-4 weeks they sighned off on a new deal with SKY NZ. It only needed to be an increase to eclpse the ALF. And that's why the AFL are now silver medalistpiesman2011 wrote:Again with your make believe. Re: NRL to reap $1.2b from TV rights
It mentioned broadcast funding from Telstra (they may have seperated out the naming rights no one knows) and they knew 2 weeks before signing off (which was when it was written) how much they were getting for NZ, they were talking about future broadcast funding not previous deals. The NZ deal had finished in Oct and there was no current deal.pussycat wrote:The article, quoting Graant, made it very clear that broadcaster funding - not sponsorship from naming rights was (at that time) $ 1.2 billion. 3-4 weeks they sighned off on a new deal with SKY NZ. But again lets say that what you said was true. You still would have needed to have a 160 million dollar NZ deal to get over the line (an extra 79 million). The AFL deal was 1.276 million with out our naming rights (1.253 + 0.023 radio). Even in make believe land you come in second.

Re: NRL to reap $1.2b from TV rights
That would put the ARLC revenue at 284 million a year without any other revenue, oh wait a minute it totals 283 million with all revenue so I guess that is wrongRaiderdave wrote:piesman2011 wrote:Again with your make believe.
