A local player in the league in my area was recently suspended for a video someone filmed on their phone of high contact. He wasn't reported to start with but once the footage was out the league investigated and he was rubbed out for a week.
The league claimed to not use the footage against him but how is that possible when he wasn't reported by an umpire? Video technology has never been used in the league so it just seems wrong.
To top the whole thing off he won the leagues medal (equivelant to brownlow) which was denied because of the suspension

Hmm, interesting. Surely a first too. Sounds rough and like you say, how could he be rubbed out when he wasn't even reported by an umpire?

It's most likely that once the footage was seen, the club affected requested an investigation and that was the result. It happens. A number of leagues have this option available. The umpire can't see everything.

The other club claim they had nothing to do with it but who knows!
I hope it doesnt get out of hand and people start filming all the games #-o
