I said regular, Raiderdave. And I was referring to the World Cup, which began in 1954. Poker machines were around illegally before 1956, I believe as far back as the Depression years. Of course there were test matches between Great Britain and Australia. We all know that. But they weren't regular, just like they weren't regular in the cricket either, due to the expense and time of travel.

Rugby: The hypocrisy and arrogance which is hurting both codes
by RAY FRENCH
Rugby league is guilty of hypocrisy and a hysterical knee-jerk reaction to the loss of some of its best players to rugby union.
However, Peter Wheeler, the chief executive of Leicester Tigers, made an equally ridiculous claim when he suggested that some of league's leading clubs are ready to switch codes. If he wasn't being malicious and mischief-making, he was naive and ignorant.
Anyone in union suggesting that long-established league clubs would simply switch codes has no conception of the impact a league club has on its community.
But some of league's administrators have done their game no favours with their hysterical outpourings. It smacks of hypocrisy coming from a game which has taken more than 100 union international players from Wales alone over the years.
All this talk has been sparked by union reversing a trend. Suddenly it is union that has the pot of gold.
And it is quite likely that Jason Robinson and Henry Paul will be followed into union by some other high-profile league players, such as Iestyn Harris and Keiron Cunningham.
But I can see a smugness and complacency in union which existed in league a few years ago, when the money came pouring in from television and the clubs squandered it on ridiculous player contracts which fuelled hyper-inflation.
Union at the moment is like a helium balloon, sailing up into a clear blue sky. But very soon there will be a bang.

I'd suggest you don't know what you are talking about.

1 of those countries for a start has Union as its #1 code.

Now that's a start, I'm not sure if I could be bothered going over your other bits of bs here, but I will say this though, the club game of RL in Eng gets anywhere up to 5 times as many people watching some games as its union rival, the only place where Union has it over League in Eng is Internationals that they have been held and had on the BBC for as long as anyone can remember and are an institution. That's not to say RL doesn't get its own BBC games every year where Millions watch, they have Challenge cup games and Tests on the BBC too.

As for club debt in the SL, well 3 years ago, the Union premiership was already at 66 million pounds wanting and that was something like 4 times what the whole RL owed, so I think you should stick to things you know about, afl and nothing else.
