New TV deal, same old problems with Channel 9

This comment pretty much sums up the nRL's TV deal.

Yeah the NRL really showed the AFL how to get better Tv rights. If this was an AFL match it would be Live into Brisbane. It just show how the NRL had to sell their soul to ch 9 to match the offer what the AFL recieved. Once again the AFL trumps the NRL. And Once again the AFL have proven that their a decade infront of the NRL.

THEY'RE calling it the most anticipated opening to an NRL season in years but Queensland viewers will have to hold their breaths an hour longer than Sydneysiders.

The Roosters-Rabbitohs round one clash, possibly featuring Sonny Bill Williams up against Sam Burgess, will be shown live on Channel Nine in Sydney from 8pm, or 7pm Queensland time.

The nRL could have demanded live coverage from Nine but they would have received less money from that. This is what the AFL did - receive less money from Channel 7 and demand live coverage in return. The AFL actually care about the fans, the nRL clearly doesn't.

No, the NRL settled for money over TV coverage and control of their schedule.

This is what makes the AFLs deal so good. More money, more control, more coverage.

I wonder what the footy show will be like now that it's moved forward in it's slot?
