AFL / NRL Tipping Competitions

Post by Beaussie »

I'm happy to report that you can now place your tips online via Talking Footy's new tipping competitions.

You'll find info on previous games, fixtures, ladder positions and alot more useful info to assist you with your tipping during season 2005.

To start tipping, visit the following links:

AFL:

NRL:

Don't forget cash prizes are on offer for the Top 3 tippers in each comp at the season end. Good luck.

For those yet to join the NRL Tipping Comp, it's not to late. Actually if you join before the close off for tips this Friday night at 7.30pm, you'll find yourself actually doing better than a few of the tippers who put their tips in for the weekend just gone. Gotta love how those averages work out. It doesn't seem fair I know, just ask poor old lescygnes.

Actually, upon looking at how the footy tipping program caluclate scores for non-tippers and late entrants, I think it is only fair that those who joined in the first week for the NRL Tipping should have a say as to how the defaults are set.

For example, the following options can be set:

Default for Non-Tippers
Home Game Winners
Away Game Winners
Drawn Game (not at all fair I would think)
Lowest in the Round
Average Score (Rounded Down) Adjustment = (eg -1)

Deafault for Late Entrants
Home Game Winners
Away Game Winners
Drawn Game (not at all fair I would think)
Lowest in the Round
Average Score (Rounded Down) Adjustment = (eg -1)

I'm willing to change it to whatever the majority of those in the first round think is most fair. Thoughts people, particularly those who got 3 or less on the weekend.

That seems fair enough. Done.

The tipping ladder has now been updated with new entrants having the Average Score for the round, rounded down by 1.

Does anyone object to a margin being added for tippers to tip each week for one of the games in each round?

I'll see what I can do about adding it for the next round, as most people have already submitted their tips for this round.

Why is that? You still have what looks like a healthy lead.
