AFL/NRL odds...which comp is more even ?
In previous years we have had AFL fans try to tell us that their comp is more open ..more even .
Even when after only 3 RDS there were teams at 1000-1 with the bookies .
One year after 6 RDS there was a quarter of the Comp consigned to the no chance basket .
KE used to call it the Basket case league ...& rightly so .
I'm pretty sure those threads were locked ..lol surprising isn't it ...
So let's keep an eye on the bookies odds for the year .
At the moment before the season starts( well NRL has had 2 games )
These are the odds for the teams that the bookies see as little to no chance
NRL
Titans 67-1
TIgers 67-1
Canterbury 41-1
So only 2 teams over 50-1
None over 100-1
Definitely none over 150-1
AFL
N Melb 151-1
GOld Coast 151-1
BRIS 151-1
Carlton 101-1
Fremantle 51-1
West Coast. 41-1
According to the bookies & they are in the money making business
You can basically write off 1/3 of the AFL comp,as no hope
The NRL about 1/5 .
Looks like the Basketcase league is alive & thriving in AFL .

The AFL is higher scoring, meaning the difference between clubs is accentuated. It's only an issue if it means ratings and crowds are negatively effected, and we all know that isnt an issue

Re: AFL/NRL odds...which comp is more even ?
the sport of RL is far lower scoring, so it will almost always result in more even contests, and therefore a more even competition. My point is why does it matter? If the fans are still watching and going to games where's the issue?

The old higher scoring Defense
It don’t matter if the score goes to 1000, the odds for a team to win the whole thing simply doesn’t correlate.
The basket case league is alive and well folks! The afl is one of the most uneven lopsided professional comps in the world.

Excatly
The scoring system has nothing to do with the quality or lack of when talking about the teams .
In this compromised load of crap ......some teams are ensured of success with extra help
Others are left with little help ...hence the odds
Seems to me that if you are one of the AFLs current chosen "gunna be successful teams" then the bookies won't have you anywhere near the outsider Basketcase league odds .

Re: AFL/NRL odds...which comp is more even ?
I beg to differ. A very low scoring game increases the chances of closer games, and bottom sides can stay in touch easier. A couple of standout efforts can mean a bottom side beats a top side. This is a lot less likely in higher scoring game. Test cricket is higher scoring than T20 generally speaking, and is more likely to result in the more skilled team winning. Whereas in T20 one standout effort from a bottom side can win the game. It's the nature of the different sports.AFLcrap1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 10, 2018 4:43 pmExcatly

So again, what does it matter?

Nlol dribblin shit as usual.
Anything to save face for the afl.
I wonder whether the nbl or the nba has had numerous teams that are $1000-1 after two rounds
The afl has problems nlol. The sooner you realise this the better you’re gunna look.

Are you the full quid .
This is a fight club
As A RL fan I will highlight the delusions of the afl fans
No matter what it is they can't accept in some ares Rl is better .
Hence why I started this thread .
In the past they have maintained that the afl is a far closer comp
Even when it's pointed out how absurd that claim is they still can't admit that the AFL loses out in anything .
