NSW, Qld and the Southern States. Did you know Melbourne had just under 500,000 viewers last years? Wow. :thumbleft:

I'm sure if the super bowl was shown live at that time it would get a similar rating in Melbourne. People like events and soo is right up there as an event. It's a quality game that goes to show that the product has some legs and shows people will go to the game when the spectacle is good. Rl need to work out how to make the nrl season as popular and maybe people will attend.

A pretty stupid thing to say Fred , considering that Rugby League is already clearly No1 when it comes viewers(and that's without the use of a wildcard) :(/ :(/ :(/

Origin made up about 11m of our 130m ratings last year, so it cant be the only thing that's popular.

No. Well I don't and to be honest I don't think people who follow afl care as much as you think. It's a great night and I will flick over and watch and if a good game stayed tuned. If more rl games could generate the same sort of excitement the game might be doing a bit better.

I think the old rl ru rivalry , now that union is almost dead in this country, has seen rl people transfer this onto Aussie rules. The fact that all those people in afl states watch the game would suggest that AFL people aren't getting into a frenzy. I think the afl would love a similar spectacle however circumstances do not allow for it without compromising the season proper and afl people and clubs would've not stand for it. This is what killed it off in the first place.
