Post by Beaussie »

Tipping competitions will once again be returning for both the AFL and NRL seasons in 2007.

fsports.php

Some excitng new options have been added including the ability to bet credits against other members in the community. In addition, members will be able to put their tips in at any time prior to the game start time as well as the ability to edit tips - which as many of you will remember was not available last season. As was the case last season, statistics will one again be available.

Bonus points will be awarded each week for the match of the round and tipping all winners in any round. Feedback now on the amount of bonus points awarded in these instances would be great. At present it is 5 credits.

Prizemoney will once again be as follows in each respective competition:

1st - $175
2nd - $50
3rd - $25

Best of luck to you all.

Forgot to mention that the tipping comps open a month prior to the start of the season - hence only the AFL - NAB Cup is presently open for members to enter their tips.

NRL tips will be enterable on 16 February 2007 (1mth prior to the NRL season opener on 16 March 2007).

AFL tips will be enterable on 30 February 2007 (1mth prior to the AFL season opener on 30 March 2007).

Meanwhile, like I said the AFL - NAB Cup tipping competition is open now. Just change league via the drop down menu on the footy tipping page.

I'm pleased to report that in addition to the cash prizes on offer, the top tipper in both the AFL and NRL will be rewarded with a $100 gift voucher for football merchandise thanks to our friends at ilovesport.com.au

Great work getting them on board Beaussie!

Just wondering how do you decide the winners? is it whoever gets the most correct tips or whoever end up with the most credits? :?

Cheers pickles.

The winners Top 3 in the AFL & NRL will be decided by points accumulated throughout the season and win % if needed. The credits are more for fun/boasting purposes.

Ok, a minor change, to the way points are awarded for the tipping competitions is as follows:

Correct Tip = 1 point
Correct Bonus Game Tip = 1 point

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask here.

P.S. Are those who are or will be participating interested in being able to view the tips of other members prior to the game start time?

This can be activated if enough people are interested. Personally I think it's better not to know what others are tipping prior to the game, but that's just my opinion. Open to suggestions here.

Ok after testing during the AFL NAB Cup, the terms, conditions and rules for the 2007 AFL and NRL tipping competitions are set.

The way you've set up your competition pickles seems to be the way to go when determining a final winner, should there be two or more on equal points. Anyway full details can be viewed on the footy tipping homepage:

Due to an unfortunate database issue with the tipping competitions scores, all data has now been restored to what it was as of Saturday 18/08/07 - prior to the problem presenting. As many of you will know all scores in the tipping competition changed to 0.

This issue has now been corrected and all scores are now back to what they were as of the completition of - Round 20 in the AFL and Round 23 in the NRL.

As a result of the database only being restored tonight at approximately 8:30pm, tipping has been suspended for this weekends Round 21 in the AFL and Round 24 in the NRL. This was unfortunate, but I hope you will all agree a necessary measure to avoid the inevitable problem of some members being able to enter their tips, whilst others missed out due to the timing of the database restore. It seems only fair that tipping scores remain the same as at the completition of Round 20 in the AFL and Round 23 in the NRL, prior to the database problem.

Rest assured, tipping will resume for next weekends final rounds in the AFL and NRL (ie: Round 22 in the AFL and Round 25 in the NRL) continuing through the finals series of each respective competition.

Please accept my sincerest apologies for the inconveinience experienced this week with the tipping competitions.

Who honestly would tip a draw? The terms, rules and conditions of the tipping competitions were in place prior to the start of the footy seasons. If you did not like those terms, why did you join? #-o
