2017/2018 - A-League - Soccer TV Ratings

Interesting to see how the A-League rates this season on Channel 10 - ONE. Have seen many soccer fans posting elsewhere that the move from SBS to Channel 10 this season will do wonders for FTA tv ratings for soccer in Australia. Has the so called sleeping giant of Australian sport been awoken?

Slight improvement on FTA viewers numbers compared to last week.

More people watching horse racing and netball yesterday than prime time viewers for the A-League gives you an idea of the relevance of soccer in Australian sporting minds.

No doubt for Fox. Channel 10 got it for free though didn’t they?

Would it be correct to say the live prime time A-League broadcast came last in its time slot right across the country?

Fox, which paid $346 million for a six-year deal to cover soccer earlier this year, will now pay a further $2 million to the game's governing body and then charge Ten a fee for supplying it with content for its second platform, Channel One.

States a Fee.. doesn't say how much..
I would say dirt cheap

Not good
Also makes the claim of the SOKKA fans laughable that the problem was being stuck on SBS affected the ratings & will see big increases when on a commercial station .

The Wanderers make GWS look pretty second rate to be honest. Their fanbase is hugely passionate while nobody really gives two shits about GWS in the same district.

AFL has had so many advantages over the Wanderers too.
More money,
Mass advertising promotion by the AFL
Home crowds in two cities Canberra & Sydney
Free entry for kids
All games live on free to air.
Starting up earlier than the Wanderers
Constant visits to local schools by GWS players

Yet the Wanderers still seem a lot more popular despite all these legs ups given by AFL to the Giants.
