Lol FTA prime time is 100% of the population .
STV is about 30

We have 2 FTA prime time games aweek
Afl has 3 FTA or 4 prime time when thurs are played a week .

& prime time usually describes FTA for the advertising market .
Ads cost more in prime time
STV is driven by subscriptions with a small amount of advertising .

So your argument has just been dismantled .

BS Prime time is a time of day where ratings are maximised. The medium used isnt the point. Foxtel want their games to be shown when the maximum of their audience can watch it. Why do you think they put game of thrones and other premium content on in prime time hours? For shits and giggles?

The nrl games you are trying to include are not accessible for 75% of the population as opposed to the 100% for AFl

AFL have 8 Thursday games this year.
Friday 6pm is hardly Primetime

Please get these games right NRL games on Saturdays start times

NRL
3pm
5:30pm
7:30pm

AFL have alot more reach with FTA to various Football teams
As I said, even with Thursday games we only have 44% prime time. Other than that we have 36%

How the hell is 6pm - 8pm, or 5.30pm to 7-730pm not prime time? This is when the news is shown which rates the highest every single night
look above again.. I never said our saturday games were not in primetime>>
i corrected the start times you had stated..

also 6pm Friday night why it is not the ideal time, it has been rating over 200k each week
it does also benefit the NZ market..

you cannot put FOX and FTA on the same level..

In primetime FTA hits 600-700k
In Primetime FOX hits 220 - 300k

irrelevant. This argument is about when matches are scheduled and why. The NRL schedule a 6pm Friday game on Fox for ratings irrespective of the fact it's only available for fox subscribers.

again, irrelevant. Games are scheduled later in the day to suite TV, irrespective of the medium. In other words the NRL allowed crowd unfriendly times to get a better TV deal because it paid them more. I.e they caved in to the networks

Foxtel first airing of game of thrones is Midday Monday, the other showings are replays.

Foxtel's 6'Oclock NRL's game may be shown in prime time but it is shown directly against the FTA news which is far worse scheduling wise than anything the AFL face on Foxtel!

again, they air it at 6pm rather than earlier because it rates better. Would you propose they show it at 8pm or 4pm?

FFS you clowns, how hard is this to understand? The NRL allow their fixture to be scheduled for TV over crowds, and their crowds suffer but their ratings, and TV rights $$ benefit.

This is stated on LU's crowds thread almost daily

the 6pm Game is being trialed by the NRL.

2017 the ratings and crowds were shocking.

in 2018 it is starting to gain traction.

with Newcastle and Warriors pulling in good crowds in this time slot.
and ratings up 30%

for crowds the time slot can work but in certain areas...

the AFL have taken a totally different. They wanted a combination of crowd and TV friendly games, therefore they have 1pm games on Saturday and Sunday, 2-3pm games on Saturday and Sunday, day games on public holidays, and a day grand final. They were happy to have games shown at the same time which compromise TV audience but allow better scheduled times. If not they'd have to have very early starting or very late finishing games. which again would be poor for attendance.

So less TV money to keep control for the benefit of their fans, not just the TV execs

i do agree the NRL should have at least 1 more day game on hand per round.
and with expansion in the future.. that 17th and 18th team will hopefully be allocated another day game.

Day games can still rate well, baring are good match up..
its hard to say how much the AFL took a hit on Tv rights for more day games / twilight games.

more day games are also good, as it allows a whole day of coverage of that code.

evening games will always rate better for the same quality game. This is why the NRL have only 2 of their 8 games starting before 4pm, and they spread their prime time games over 3 nights

The AFL has told the clubs that their broadcast audience, down for much of 2018 in a slump arguably tied to the state of the game, has lifted over the past three to four weeks.

It's not like they manipulate figures around their game .

Maybe GIl told them the viewers were there ....they were just out the back of their homes in catering tents .
