Re: 2nd year AFLW: Will the hype continue?
No it's not
Don't bullshit to try to downplay its rapid decline
It's semi pro
They get paid ....
Therefore not amateur .
& you call the crowds & ratings a bonus.
Lol
Last year yep
This year when you compare to last year ..it's a rapid decline .
But by all means keep sugar coating it .
It makes for great comedy .

Gees Louise. Massive crowd in Perth tonight for Freo vs Collingwood.
Edit: just announced 41,975. Biggest crowd in Australian history for women’s sport. Way to go AFLW.

Re: 2nd year AFLW: Will the hype continue?
as Ive mentioned numerous times, last year was their first season ever, so interest was sky high. This year is a more accurate reflection of the interest in a female sport in it's infancy.AFLcrap1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2018 8:11 pmNo it's not

Re: 2nd year AFLW: Will the hype continue?
Geez Beatup....you sound like you didn't see this coming pal? You think this might have had more to do with the new stadium than the ladies mess?
Also: there is something very strange about this story - the AFL boasted they had 'sold out' the stadium. Then I saw a replay of the ladies running out and it seemed less than half full. Then they post a crowd of 42,000. That's after they said they sold 54,000 tickets. What the hell is going on here?
Just what is an AFL 'sell out' these days? When does this organisation actually tell the truth. We had the Shanghai 'sell out' that wasn't, the Drummoyne oval lock out that wasn't and now the Perth stadium 'sell out' or 42,000 or make up a number that that our brain dead fans will nod about in unison.
WOOKIE...... we need your help........AGAIN lolololoololol!!!!!!!

Great to see a huge crowd for #AFLW but if you had any credibility you would have mentioned that 100000 people paid $15 recently to visit the empty stadium. Less spin. More journalism Sam.

Massive crowd posted
There's a difference!
Rugby League, the dominant force in Australian sport!

Re: 2nd year AFLW: Will the hype continue?
Well folks the TV ratings are in and once again they have fallen of the proverbial cliff. Fridays mess 53k. Yesterdays 31k & 140K was the FTA number. That's a total of 224k with one game to go. Todays game will probably be lucky to get 30k so we're looking at a total for the round of 250k. Last year they got 900k for the 2nd round. That is a total & absolute collapse in following.
I can't see a broadcaster picking up this catastrophe for any sort of coin that would pay for the comp. They play less than 30 games so the content as well as the total numbers just aren't there.
This will become a niche comp with the occasional splash being made in Bleak City and the desert states only. You heard it here first!!

You flip. Comparing the inaugural season against the second season that was also up against the Winter Olympics, T20 International Cricket involving Australia and various other sports.Terry wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2018 4:07 pmWell folks the TV ratings are in and once again they have fallen of the proverbial cliff. I see the ladies of AFL still easily outrated the men’s rugby league, rugby union and soccer offerings.
Way to go ladies eh Terry
