Sydney to host gf?

Post by Fred »

What do people think of the gf being in Sydney. I think if the mcg is unavailable we may see it go interstate. I think one in Sydney would be great and add to the growing presence of aussie rules there.

So what if, although very unlikely, Sydney and GWS make the GF before 2037? Port v Adelaide? Westcoast V Fremantle? Those two are both more likely. Or, highly unlikely again, GC v Brissy?

I think the MCG/AFL need to show some flexibility if this happens as they're likely to offend rather than attract potential supporters come GF time.

I think we have seen non Melbourne teams in the gf and from I can remember the players want to play the gf at the mcg as that's the home of football. Me personally would love to see it played in Sydney or perth etc.

Non melb teams but I don't know if we've seen an interstate local rivalry in the gf... In this situation it shouldn't be played in melbourne.

I wonder if a newer, bigger stadium will be built somewhere (Vic or otherwise) before that 2037 date arrives... Seems like a good deadline to create something bigger.
