Would netball be the closest code to AFL?
Male netballers wear the same style uniforms as AFL players.
Both soft contact games.
Mens netball popular in Victoria like AFL.
AFL clubs having netball teams competing.
As you can see from the website. The male netballers look like they have been taken from an AFL game.

Ok it is official, AFL has ripped off mens netball for it's uniforms.

Re: Would netball be the closest code to AFL?
To answer ur question nrl nfl, Iβm not exactly sure. I think the physique required for both sports is fairly similar.
And I know this is going on a bit of a tangent but there is also a long history of female and feminine dominated sports wearing skimpy attire. Iβm not 100% sure why but am guessing that showing the extra skin helps make the ladies sports more attractive to male audiences. I donβt really agree with the need for this, tho I do enjoy a bit of beach volleyball every now and then... but this seems to be the way itβs gone and in America weβve even seen this concept taken to the extreme with the laungerie football league. The afl has definitely taken on the feminine sport ideal and whilst not yet a laungerie league the afl is not far off it.... really close in fact ....and who knows, if they get a ceo whoβs into men in laungerie we might see the afll (Australian football laungerie league) arise in the not too distant future.

Great idea!!! We've got the AFLW atrocity and the AFLX freak show. We can combine those two with the AFLL (lingerie) and hey presto we've got a game we can take to the world. Well.....at least third world cities in China and India.

Yeah your right, they do both have exactly the same builds. There seems to be so much inspiration that AFL is getting from mens netball.King-Eliagh wrote: βSun Mar 25, 2018 2:49 pmTo answer ur question nrl nfl, Iβm not exactly sure. I think the physique required for both sports is fairly similar.

The difference with LFL is. The ladies gridiron is a tougher sport than mens AFL.
And a far more entertaining one too.
Just look at the hits in womens LFL.

gay pride rounds with the Swans.

If I was a netballer I would take offence at the comparison to Aflol
Netball doesn't have a little side unco hoop for when you miss
Also the hoop is only slightly larger than the ball .
In Afl the posts are about 1000 times bigger than the ball .
So please don't be dissing netball again .

No you're dead right actually. I would like to take back any comparisons I made.
On review we must be more accurate. The netball shorts are not similar to the shorts the afl players put on each week. Afl shorts are much much skimpier than the shorts male netball players wear... much skimpier
In fact if boys tried wearing afl shorts in public schools most principals would be on the phone telling their parents their sons are revealing too much, like they do when the girls take their skirts up.
Does anyone else know why the afl has adopted hot pants as it's player uniform? It's really tasteless, they look like a bunch of sluts out there! A pack of wanton hussies!! It's filthy. No class at all

Yeah I apoligise for comparing netball with a code that rewards points when you miss a goal.AFLcrap1 wrote: βSun Mar 25, 2018 8:23 pmIf I was a netballer I would take offence at the comparison to Aflol

I think the hotpants are marketing ploy to get gay men and horny women to watch the AFL.King-Eliagh wrote: βSun Mar 25, 2018 10:07 pmAFLcrap1 wrote: βSun Mar 25, 2018 8:23 pmIf I was a netballer I would take offence at the comparison to Aflol

I've no doubt the AFL welcome any gay man or horny women to watch, attend, participate, become a member or actually have absolutely any involvement at any level whenever they feel like it.NRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote: βSun Apr 01, 2018 6:18 amI think the hotpants are marketing ploy to get gay men and horny women to watch the AFL.King-Eliagh wrote: βSun Mar 25, 2018 10:07 pmAFLcrap1 wrote: βSun Mar 25, 2018 8:23 pmIf I was a netballer I would take offence at the comparison to Aflol

It sounds like the NRlilL may have a class issue if they intend to exclude those two genres.
Maybe the AFL should enforce all players to build their skin folds up to severely obese, slip on some grandpa pajamas and plaster themselves in advertising banners to the point they could be mistaken for a sandwich board out front of a shop.
That should build up a nice following.
Women love that shit!
I'm suprised no one does this.........oh....... Wait a minute.
Hmmmm,......
FYI
If my Mrs had her way they'd paint the AFL Guernseys on the players.

Oh dear .
So much bullshit .
If the afl is so welcoming why hasn't ONE gay male player came out as gay yet .
Most sports crossed that bridge last century .
Not yours .
& no class issue with RL .
We welcome any race ....
We have a very multicultural game
Not a banana thrown at anyone

Who said anything about someone coming out.
You were very quick to deflect to that, do you have something to announce to us all Crap.......?
You see Crap, we were discussing an "apparent" marketing tactic, and how welcoming the AFL is.
Do you have hard evidence of the AFL discriminating toward gay men or horny women that are looking to be part of the AFL family? or anyone for that matter?

Re: Would netball be the closest code to AFL?
I think we are going a bit off topic so please, allow me to provide a succinct summation of the thread findings thus far.
We have questioned whether netball is the closest code to afl and whilst netball requires a far higher level of skill development and application we can say there is some similarity. But it would be offensive to the higher skilled netball code to actually say the sports are closely matchedin terms of skill.
We have also questioned whether the netball uniforms are similar and while the singlets do look fairly similar we have found that the afl players shorts are far far more skimpier than the shorts the male netball players wear. Far skimpier and thus again it would be offensive to compare the netballers uniform with the afls far skimpier akin to strip club or kylie minogue hot pants with what they wear in netball.
So, in sum the thread has been very informative and several members have changed their understanding. But, alas the thread hypothesis has been proven to be untrue.
May I then suggest that We must therefore consider other sports that might be similar to afl? I have previously stated foxy boxing to have many similarities, though of course it's not a ball sport and there's no oval I reckon what the foxy boxing martial artists wear and do looks very similar to what happens after each and every afl fumble, of which there are hundreds every game
