Hybrid rugby: Kangaroos could face All Blacks in $50 million blockbuster

TOP-LEVEL plans are advancing for a historic $50 million hybrid game between Australia’s world champion Kangaroos and New Zealand’s World Cup-winning All Blacks.

now they have talked about this for years (but money does talk)

this would be a HUGE GAME>>

Not for me. I reckon it'd be boring. Sure it'd crest plenty of interest but the fact of the matter is the rugby toffs are soft marshmallow like pieces of fat compared to the rugby league fellas. The athleticism of rugby league would no doubt win out in a hybrid game. The fact that so many rugby league players have easily made the switch and excelled at the very highest level of rugby is the proof.

It's be a boring match. Much like the afl finals of 2017. So not for me at all.

Having played both union and league I would have to say Union backs ‘yes’ I think so, but union forwards ‘no’. And overall No.

the difference between the two codes is in the forwards, RuGby league from all its rule changes over the century has made many of the traditional forward roles and specialist skills still used amd needed in rugby union obsolete.

Forwards in union need to stay in or around the ball and be extra muscle in the rucks, and most importantly they have to be able to scrummage. forwards in league traditionally were just the tough guys that made hitups and tackles, but since RL removed contesting the scrum and play the ball, forwards in league play with the ball in hands more than their union countrtparts and now they need to have good passing and runnig skills.

In RL You could safely swap around a player from the front row with someone at the back of the scrum, League forward positions are interchangeable, you cannot do this in union, the replacement front row fowards neck would snap first scrum. each forward position in union is a specialist role and so requires a special skill set and a certain body size and strength to do it properly and safely.

RL forwards these days have the same sort of body type and size, aswell as skill level as you’d find in the centres in union, hence why sam burgess played outside centre for england in union after playing front row forward for south Sydney.

with RLs recent reduction to interchange numbers, body size and build from a union forward to a league forward has widened more. Union forwards will tend to be more built in the upper body, like shoulders and neck area, whereas league forwards will be more built up on the mid section and legs.

Thats why If the All Blacks played against the Kangeroos all i could see happenint would be the AB’s dominating in amd around the scrum, and they would have clear dominance in the ruck also so its a safe bet wed see the AB with alot of phases. the kangeroos would have to rely on a strong defence to gain control of the ball, and play out of the ruck as quickly as possible then target their attack at the bigger and slower AB forwards in an around the ruck.

All in all... ABs would score their points off mauls and multiple phase play, the kangeroos would score off quick play around the AB forwards. Other than that the two would be very even. Both have gun backlines and both have talented ball players, so neither would gain any advantage on the other going through the backs.

Rugby league would destroy union players in the back line running and skills. Speed and agility in bucketfuls compared to the rugby union players.

In terms of goal kicking the union ball is slight rounder/fatter. It's easier to kick accurately over distance so I doubt there's any real skill diff there. It would depend on the rules a bit to see where dominance in such a game would lie, but even if the rules were biased towards union I'd put my money on rugby league still giving them a thrashing.

You are dreaming if you think the league boys will win against the all blacks in rugby. reality is league would win league, rugby would win rugby
