And irrelevant that our 'mediocre' football players earn more than your so called stars. That must annoy you.
Football in NSW
- Football 200,868
- AFL NSW/ACT 28,468
- Rugby League 96,041
- Rugby Union 40,685
Football has 22% more players than the other football codes combined

Melbourne Storm got a home crowd of 28,800 plus the other week against the Broncos. Are probably the best run club in the NRL too. Nothing minnow about that.leagueiscrap wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2017 1:28 pmMinnowbourne storm are a good exampleleeroy*NRL* wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2017 9:02 amAFL are the only sporting organization in the world

Re: Are the Giants making a mark?
if they couldnt get a prelim crowd like that after the success theyve had theyd have no hope. RL's issues are with its own heartland, The NRL are giving GF tickets away for free and the TV ratings for Sydney have been shockingNRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2017 9:33 pmMelbourne Storm got a home crowd of 28,800 plus the other week against the Broncos. All that success and all they can muster is a one off 28k crowd! What about every other game they played this and seasons past? Thickshit
What were the ticket prices? The crazy Clark’s bargain bin prices of $15? How many were given out for free?

But everyone in Sydney loves to see the storm lose ... its like the Collingwood factor in AFL. So you have to factor that on.

The money in the game encourages thugs to knock their kids lights out before they finish their teenage years.leagueiscrap wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2017 11:30 amyour shite code gets those finals size crowds all regularly! even after $15 dollar and free tickets!NRL&NFLweLaughATafl wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2017 8:19 amWell just last week GWS pulled the lowest AFL finals crowd in a 100 years.

And that was with free tickets for kids, mass promotion and advertising.
Even talk of a sellout. Yet was lucky to be less than half full.
They had ratings about this figure too.
thats even in heart land with clubs nearing 100 years old
Families no longer let their kids play Rugby.
Alan Jones interviewed one of his former players years ago and he identified this as the problem.
It's been known for years but what can the governing body do? Rugby is for thugs who sit on nightclub doors, take drugs and moonlight for the underworld.
I hear women don't like it much either and then there's poker machines and.... it's a stupid game they try and call football but people retire with never having kicked the stupid thing so how do you expect that to draw crowds.
You've got talent in Rugby because money talks but they're mostly just thugs and most people don't want to know that kind of thuggery.
There's thugs in the world: we all know that! Why would anyone pay to see it? It's like boxing... that died just like Rugby did!

Re: Are the Giants making a mark?
I placed 40 bucks on Brisbane Lions to win their third Premiership in a row back in the mid 2000s because it was paying $2.40 and I though that was overpriced and it was a definite win.
I drove around the block and thought: who's going to lose two grandfinals in a row.... F'N Collingwood so I put another 660 bucks on it and made approximately 1100 hundred dollars profit a few days later.
Never placed another bet..... so I would never forget the joy of seeing Collingwood lose two Grandfinals in a row: they're absolute dogs those blokes.

Re: Are the Giants making a mark?
As a Sydney side rugby league fan who can honestly admit I've played watched and been to countless afl matches I gotta say I have developed a soft spot for gws the last two years. Although their conception was an ill advised piece of dog shit on the field this year and last the team has shown a bit of heart. I can't say the same for the swans who haven't really shown true grit and fight in their finals footy for five years now.
Having said all this and thinking on the thread theme... I went to the pub in Sydney to watch last Saturday's gws v Richmond PRELIMINARY final and there were about twenty Richmond supporters to 4 gws supporters. It was kinda weird and showed clearly that gws haven't made much of a mark at all in this city since Israel Folau played for them. Tho I used to say it was terrible planning by the afl to pay izzy millions , I now kinda think gws would prob be much better off in this city if they recruited 10 or so NRL players. They might not lose so many players to small knocks in important matches if they had some tougher NRL players running round for them neither
